Hunter Or the Hunted

783 Words
Shawn wakes up covered in sweat. He’d have to go for a run to get it off of his mind. To this day he didn’t know why they let him live or what to do with his life. How do you move on after you hold your little sister while she dies in your arms? He’s had issues moving on for years now. All he knew was he was going to find a way to make the hunters pay for what they had done. For what they had taken from him.     Shawn gets up and goes for a run. While on his run through the forest he gets the sense of being watched. He tries to shake it off but he can’t. So he lets his wolf senses go free so he can hear for anything that doesn’t belong. So far nothing is out of place but then he hears something breathing. It didn’t sound like the normal wildlife so he made himself ready for an attack as he kept running.     He rounded the corner as something knocked him off his feet. He sprang up ready to fight but stopped. It was a beautiful woman. She stood there with a finger to her lips telling him to be quiet. He moved closer but she told him to stop and motioned for him to listen. There it was again the breathing he’d heard earlier. Shawn didn’t know what to think at this point but he felt safe with the strange woman.     The breathing got faster and closer. Shawn turned ready to fight but noticed the woman was running away. Shawn was just about to call to her when a man with a gun burst through the trees. “Can I help you, sir?” Shawn asked. The man looked at him and smiled. “Yes, sir you can. You see, I’m looking for a woman who came on my land to steal my chickens. Have you seen her?” Shawn shook his and said, “No sir, I didn’t see a chicken thief but I did see a werewolf hunter that has a death wish.” Shawn grinned letting his canines show. The man stepped back with a gasp.     “You’re not human! You and your kind shouldn’t exist.” the man screams at Shawn. “I hope you all become extinct.” The man raises his gun to aim it at Shawn. He doesn’t run away but instead he walks closer to where the gun is against his chest. “Go ahead. Pull the trigger. You don’t have the balls to face me like a real man. You’re all a bunch of f*****g cowards hiding behind your guns attack women and children. Not caring what damage you cause to others.” Tears start to fall down Shawn’s face. “She was only 7 years old and you fuckers killed her like she was nothing! She wasn’t nothing, she was the only family I had left.” The man looks at Shawn confused. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. We don’t kill women and children. We kill wolves.”     The man laughed at his joke and put his finger on the trigger. All of a sudden a black wolf jumps on the man and rips him to pieces. Shawn steps back staring at the wolf. Once the wolf is done it licks the blood from its fur and looks at him. Shawn watches in awe at the wolf that changes to the beautiful woman from earlier. She smiles as she walks towards him. “Thank you.” she says. “I haven’t been able to get him distracted enough to kill him for weeks.” Her smile fades as she continues. “I’m sorry to hear about your sister. How long ago did they kill her?” Shawn looks at the ground as he says, “It's been 6 months now but it feels like yesterday.”     The woman nods and puts her hand on his shoulder. “Have you been alone since? Do you have a pack you belong to?” Shawn shakes his head. “They killed my pack that night. I have no one left.” The woman nods and says, “Then it’s final you’ll come with me to my pack. You’ll be welcomed with open arms there.” Shawn nods and follows the woman into the trees.
