Alia I've seen all sorts voodoo in my five years in the force. I'm insistent, no one makes a good cop being the lazy karen. So I know what gut wrenching fear is when it seizes, my legs move before I can respond. I stifle a cry, knocking my knee sharp into a cut branch, hollowed out. I creep inside, but distant cracks shoo me further. I curse hitting branches I can't see. A deep, growling howl vibrates the air near me and I climb the nearest tree branch. "Mum would be so mad right now" I wince feeling the prickling pain with every flex I take. Quiet, tears spring forth feeling warmth flow donw my leg. How did I get here? I mentally make a checklist of things I should have carried with me. An impromptu bag you might call it. I haven't watched my new series, or opened that fancy laptop Abel lent me earlier. I haven't visited mum in years. Dad doesn't talk to me anymore. who will mourn me dammit. I should really be more chilled. Lord I promise. more tears trickle down as I fight a inncoming dizzy spell. Any more movement ad this branch might not take much weight. Another twig snaps "Alia!" I'll never smoke in my life again "Alia!" No to fries. "Alia! No stales more kales. "I can smell you!" That has my attention. "Stay where you are." a voice echoes, "Reign" I mutter, my spine stiffens as a guttural groan emanate from below me. I meet with a brilliant brown fur with glowing blue sockets eyeing me, slobering as it growls more and more "Rick" I whisper and jerk as it snaps and places its humongous paws on the tree, creaking it by the minute I let it aaall out in one high pitched scream. I shall die a warrior...armed with pepper spray if I do this right. Reign Dane seemed to be in distress even after the long energetic run. 'Dane? everything alright?' 'No' 'Full moon?' 'He needs you' I stiffen "Dane take me to him" That's my third favourite shirt he's ruined ****** I feel everything on levels I only experience with my wolf, the dirt he rolls in, scents of all sorts, speed, wind in my fur, and snapping trees like twigs. I sniff the air, lots of rabbits scurry feeling my presence. She dropped her phone, I note, following Rick's trail. I shift back, grabbing her abandoned jacket. It must be cold out there for her, a dead decaying body catches my eye, must have been there for days, and I smell it again. rotten garlic. Shifters are back, one just went loose. 'Hurry!' Dane's never been insistent, he emerges without any forthcoming and sprints towards a fearful scream. I barrel through my brother, who's snapping at me with feral anger. the f**k? I sit on his head, having a bigger form till he whines in concession. I can't connect to him in this state. I growl an order he can't refuse. I slowly rise hearing his bones shift back into place. His scrunched face shows regret and fear. He can't remember s**t. sniffing the air, I glance up to find two curious eyes on me. Curled around a tree ste. progressively falling. His wolf clawed out halfway through the stem. I growl at him, as he shamefully walks away. She slowly lumbers down, and I get a visual of her ripped blood soaked cargo pants. She stops whenever I try to come closer. "I got pepper spray and I am not afraid to use it!" she declares before proceeding to looks for said pepper spray, in her jacket..that she left. Then it hits her. Her knee buckle defeatedly to the ground and I watch with renewed interest "Kill me, Just spare my face for the papers. mum's going to see it" Dane laughs in my head and allows me to shift back "Not today" I pick her up and her arms come around my neck real fast, she's really cold and sniffling "I've never been so happy to see my boss" I join my mute brother in the truck and drive out to my place. This girl just might be my next obsession 'Mate' Dane purrs, my lips thin...I. am . f****d.
