I took a deep breath and opened my eyes slowly. The pain was still radiating and beating me up from the inside of my chest. Chris had expressed his rejection. We had parted ways and were no longer connected as alpha and dead.
Then I stood up while holding on to the wooden table before me. Then, I heard Chris yell in his booming voice. "Get the hell out of here! What are you waiting for?"
I didn't want to answer him. I was fed up and relieved at the same time. I turned around and limped towards the nearest wall. With a trembling body, I held on to the wall to escape. Even though it felt like my feet were no longer on the ground, I was unwilling to stay in this place of betrayal.
Delta Lawson approached and tried to grab my hand. I immediately jerked it away with the strength I had left. In an instant, the tall man seemed transfixed by my rejection. I already felt disgusted and didn't want to get close to him. The people who had supported Chris from behind were people I had to discard and stay away from for life.
So, even though I felt like I might collapse at any moment, I continued to walk out with both feet. I didn't want to look inside, but I could see the reflection of Chris' face through the window glass. I saw him still clenching his fists, looking at me with a fiery gaze.
I had already left the house when someone was following me from behind. When I turned around, I found Nico smiling broadly with sparkling eyes. She had her hands together behind her back, looking so happy that she was about to explode.
When Nico was right before me, she said, "Ah, you're finally out of here now." She smiled even wider, then shook her head with a sickening face. "I'm the Luna here, and you're not."
Nico then walked back, spinning me around and babbling on. "I'm so happy. I've taken everything from you. I'm the most important luna and mate in Chris' life. I've thrown you away so easily and have everything you used to be proud of. Don't you feel jealous?"
I stared at Nico fiercely. No matter how red my eyes were right now, I wanted to stomp on the woman in front of me. "You think you're so great because you managed to get into a relationship with my husband? Have you forgotten what self-respect is?"
Nico laughed so hard. The woman held her stomach and rubbed her watery eyes. She looked at me with a happy gaze. "I don't care about anything you say."
Nico said, "Back then, all the attention was on you. You shouldn't have gotten any attention because I was the one who knew Chris first. I was the one who deserved to be his mate, not you!"
The crazy woman took a deep breath. "I should have been Chris's luna and mate from the beginning. You didn't need to come and ruin everything. And what the moon goddess ordained was just a lie and nonsense. You know, it's all just so annoying. And I want to destroy it."
Watching Nico speak at length, I felt even more claustrophobic. My hands clenched tightly at my sides. I wanted so badly to punch her or smash her face against the windshield that her mouth would be torn open, and she would no longer be able to speak. She looked like a cheap woman who was proud of all the crimes she had committed. And it made me want to stomp her head to shreds. Not realizing this a long time ago felt so silly. I should have known that I had raised a monster with me.
But I restrained myself and took a deep breath. I looked inside. This big house is no longer my girlfriend. I'm no longer the Luna in here, so I can't do things without a second thought. If I touch this b***h one bit, Chris will probably beat me up along with the rest of the pack.
I don't want to get beat up. I have a baby in my womb. They'll kill it if that happens. So, with all the anger I had suppressed, I said, "Yeah, we'll see. You'll feel what I feel one day, which hurts more."
I cleared my throat, looking at Nico with completely vengeful eyes. "Even I, who was destined to be his mate, can be disposed of so easily. How about you? You'll regret it."
When I finished saying that, I could see the rage in Nico's eyes. The woman who had taken my husband made a fist and shouted in front of my face, "You!"
I was waiting to see what insults would come from his despicable mouth. But suddenly, Chris came out and appeared from the door. He gave me a sharp look and snapped, "What took you so long?!"
He stood next to Nico and embraced me like I had never been a valuable part of his life. Then, Chris again said harshly, "Don't beg to stay here any longer. You should know yourself, you're no longer part of Ragged Furs pack. You're just trash. Get out of this house immediately!"
I smiled sarcastically, approached Chris and looked at him with my chin up. I said, "I don't want to be here any longer either."
Chris then pointed at the inside of the house and shouted, "Take all your things! And don't ever appear in front of me again."
I grunted, refusing outright to do what Chris had ordered. You don't want to take all the stuff he gave me. It was all just for being trash. "I don't want to carry those things. Just burn it."
Then I turned around and got into the car. I bought these things before I married Chris, so I was going to take them with me. I could see through the open windshield when I was about to start the engine. The pack dwellers were looking at me with eyes, probably saddened by my departure. They
put their hands together on their chests. I don't know what they expected from me.
But I don't want to be here anymore. I will discard them, just as they discarded me. Whatever the reason, I've been betrayed. So, with a broken heart, I quickly ran to my car to get out of the towering gate of the house. There was nothing left of me in this house. Other than painful memories and a broken heart.
I drove towards the hotel where I had hidden all the files and money I had prepared. I went in and packed everything into one suitcase. When everything was neatly packed, I paused and stared at the large mirror in the room. I saw a sad-looking reflection of myself.
"You are free now. No one can touch you anymore."
I took a deep breath and quickly walked out of the hotel. Now, my destination was the airport. Where I would go somewhere far away to move on. With my ticket in hand, I checked in. It didn't take long for the plane I was on to take off.
In the aeroplane, I stared outside. I chuckled as tears fell into my lap. "You will never be able to find me. And I will give birth to the child in my womb safely and happily."
After almost twenty-four hours on the plane and enjoying the view of quite dark clouds, I left to make my second transit. No one could find me now, even if they tracked me in various ways.
And now, after a gruelling flight, I arrived at my destination country. My body feels like it's going to break, but I also feel excited at the same time. As I disembarked, I saw the faces of people I didn't recognize. They passed by with suitcases and thick clothes.
Then, someone stopped in front of me and smiled. "Mrs. Nevea?" he greeted kindly. I nodded, and the man immediately handed me a brown folder full of what I had requested on the phone.
The man left, and I muttered to myself. "Now, I won't be able to be found anymore. I will live in this country and have a new identity."
Then, I rubbed my stomach with a faint smile, affectionately saying, "We'll be fine, dear."
