XVSAL AND JUDE BOTH SHOWED up in that city they started out with. Both holding onto a street sign. They didn't need to hang on, but it was reassuring more than anything else. Cars were levitating around them, as if to take off and start falling up, but having second thoughts about that action. A lot of bobbing and weaving, almost as if they were horses hitched up to imaginary hitch-posts on the street curbs, straining at their traces to go somewhere, but not really. Otherwise, the city was pretty normal with asphalt, concrete, steel and glass. Everything except people. Anything with weight and alive had long ago worked its way to dust, at least from this end.
