Chapter 5 Luna

1563 Words
Cassandra POV I hear a steady beeping as I try to wake up. My eyes and limbs don’t seem to be cooperating. The smell of a woodsy forest and fresh rain fill the air mixed with antiseptic. Other than the constant beeping and the sound of breathing to my left it is quiet in the room. “ You need rest.” A gentle female voice states. “I’ll rest when she is awake.” As growly voice rumbles making my body warn just a bit. I hear the woman sigh. “They said she would be fine. I can stay with her.” “No” “But..” she tries again. “I said no.” The room goes quiet for a few minutes. “ How is Henry?” Growly asks again. The lady snickers. “ He will be okay. Bruised ego, but okay.” Growly laughs a bit. “ He said he didn’t expect her to do that. Didn’t even see her coming at him with the knife.” The lady says with humor. “Surprised me too.” He rumbles. Oh they must be talking about the delivery guy. I cringe. Remembering when I stabbed him. These must be his people that means…oh crap! “What do you want to do about the council?” She asks quietly. He sighs and I hear him stand up and walk away. “ Not sure what I can do.” He states. “ I don’t have the answers they want.” “They will want to talk to her.” She states. He growls angrily. It doesn’t scare me. Just does the opposite and makes me want to hear him to it again. “You can’t stop them.” She states quietly. He says nothing as the room goes quiet again. I slowly begin to drift off into darkness again. What a weird dream, I think. ————————————————————- I wake up slowly feeling aches all over my body. My head hurts and I reach up to feel a bandage over my head. As I touch it I remember what happened and gasp! The airport. “Your awake.” Someone rumbles from beside me and I cringe away from them. Fear making me feel faint. I look over at the most handsome man I have ever seen. Deep hazel eyes the color of aspen shine back at me. Whips of dark brown hair fall down into his eyes, not enough not cover though. His hair was shorter at the sides. A strong jaw showing a few days worth of stubble on a lightly tanned skin tone. A scar ran down one side of his jaw. Not very noticeable but the small white line was there. If he was clean shaved you wouldn’t even notice it. Strong kissable bowed lips sat just below a slightly crooked nose that has been broken before. I continued to stare noticing the huge shoulders hidden under the wrinkled blue dress shirt. His sleeves rolled up just below his elbows. I watched as his muscles bunched and tried to strain at the shirt concealing them. Wow! I thought. My eyes traveled back up to meet the breathtaking beautiful eyes as a smirk played at his lips. I licked my lips noticing how dry my mouth suddenly was. “…” I tried but I couldn’t get the words out. He got up and grabbed me the glass of ice water. “Here your probably thirsty.” He stated. Obviously. I wanted to roll my eyes. As he got closer the smell of woodsy forest and fresh rain filled my nose. I looked up at him after drinking have the glass and resting back. “ Where…” I croaked and tried again, “Where am I?” “You’re at my home. In my pack.” He stated. I looked at him with questions in my eyes. That wasn’t an answer and not exactly what I asked either. “And who are you?” I asked him my voice getting stronger the more I used it. My body still aches as I move it a bit trying to get my bearings. A dull throb I could feel behind my eyes. He slowly sat on the side on my bed looking down at me. His eyes searching mine for something, but he sighed when he didn’t find it. “My name is Marcus.” He stated finally. I looked at him and laughed. I then stopped and began laughing again. Soon I was in a fit a giggles as tears washed down my face. He looked at me like I had lost my damn mind. Maybe I had. Fate will find you when it’s ready, grandmas voice echoed in my head. Fate. “f**k fate!” I screamed laughing harder! Soon my laughter turned into tears and then hiccups. I felt strong arms wrap around me and pull me in. Tinges spread up my back and arms where he touched me. Comforting and relaxing me. I continued to cry even as the door banged open. I heard his whispered words but I was crying so hard I couldn’t understand what was said. Soon the other person left closing the door. He smelled so good this close as I hung onto him as my tears slowed. “Andrea…” he started but I cut him off and shoved him away. “Stop calling me that!” I said angrily. He looked at me and opened his mouth but I cut him off again. “My name is Cassie or Cassandra.” I stated. Confusion and understanding dawned in his eyes. “Cassie,” he stated, “your safe here.” I laughed again just as a doctor came into the room. He stood up and looked expectantly at the doctor. She had dark brown hair and a small smile. “ I’m doctor Hansen. How are you feeling?” She asked me as she looked at the bandages on my head and neck. “Sore”, I responded. “That’s to be expected” she stated and lifted up the blanket to look at my hip. I saw I had a burn mark on it. Remembering who was in the room I look at him and noticed he was also trying to look. “Do you mind!” I yelled causing him to bring his eyes up to my own and the doctor to jump. I glared at him and he just raised an eyebrow at me. “Personal space.” I muttered and this just caused him to frown at me. I looked at the doctor and she tried to hide her smile. “Well, I want to keep you and monitor your concussion. Everything is healing but you took a really hard hit to your head.” She stated. No kidding. I thought as it throbbed. “When can I leave.” I asked ignoring the ogre in the room. “Let’s see how you progress, shall we.” She stated checking the IV and monitors. I was not pleased with that answer. I don’t want to be here. I know what he was and what they were. Hell I even had an idea what that lady was at the airport. Grandma had told me all about them. But it did not mean I wanted to here or around them. She told me what they were capable of. Stay away, Cassie girl. Stupid Cassie. You really screwed it up this time. “If you have no questions I’ll leave you then.” The doctor stated. “Alpha, Luna” she stated as she left. My head snapped up at that and I narrowed my eyes at his. Alpha. Alpha Marcus James. Well damn! How did I manage to find the biggest s**t storm and fall right into it? Wait a hot damn minute! “Did she say Luna!” I growled. Absolutely not! I’m not no! No! No, no, no! I watched him scratch the back of his neck awkwardly. Just as he was about to say something the door burst open and in came a carbon look alike to him. Only female. “Hey, I brought you some food, Andrea.” She stated with a genuine smile. Huh, so it’s just him incapable of smiling. I knew she could feel the tension in the room. You could probably feel it outside. I looked at him and waited. He looked at me expectedly, but as the minted continued to tick by I was going to loose it. I couldn’t stand it anymore. “ Listen you overgrown Ogre!” I snapped at him. “ I did not get hit hard enough to not know who and what the hell you are!” I state as both their eyes widen and his narrow dangerously. “ I don’t know what kind of crap I’ve been pulled into your your little pound patrol but I want nothing to do with it! I ended with a good yell. Silence greater that statement until Victoria secret busted up laughing. It started with a snort then to fill out giggles. Soon she was bent over laughing so hard she could not even stand up. He did not seem amused.
