Chapter 1: The Fateful Encounter In the busy city, life seems to pass by in a hurry every day, and the encounters between people often seem like coincidences, yet they carry an unpredictable significance. On this day, the fates of architect Qiu Ze and painter Lin Xiao intertwined. Qiu Ze was a young designer at a renowned architectural firm in the city. Handsome in appearance and humorous in personality, he could always handle any situation with ease, earning the love of his colleagues. His world was made of precise lines and concrete, and he was obsessed with the aesthetics of architecture, believing that everything in life should have a clear plan and direction. When it came to relationships, he was always carefree, but never serious. Lin Xiao, on the other hand, was a different kind of person. Tall and elegant, with a cold demeanor, she appeared as though she were a landscape out of place in a crowd. A painter by profession, she was introverted and somewhat reclusive, hiding in her own world of art. Her paintings were filled with emotional tension, and behind their colorful surface, they often revealed the loneliness and pain deep within her. She never easily trusted anyone, especially not someone like Qiu Ze, who seemed lighthearted and frivolous. Their first meeting took place at an architectural design exhibition, where Lin Xiao's artwork was selected to be part of the exhibition, and Qiu Ze attended as a representative of the company. Qiu Ze was drawn to her painting, but did not show direct interest. Instead, he used his usual humor and wit to approach her. “This painting probably doesn’t just depict a landscape, right?” Qiu Ze said with a smile, standing in front of one of her works. Lin Xiao looked up coldly, her gaze wary. “How did you figure that out?” Qiu Ze smiled and replied slowly, “Every stroke holds a story. I can tell, it's not a landscape you’re painting, but your own emotions.” Lin Xiao furrowed her brow, unsure whether it was his directness or his touch on her inner world that bothered her. Instinctively, she felt uncomfortable with the way his eyes probed, yet she couldn’t deny that he had accurately guessed her feelings. “I don’t need you to interpret my paintings,” she replied softly. Qiu Ze was momentarily stunned but then smiled nonchalantly. “It’s alright. I just wanted to say, there’s a certain power in your work that makes people want to get closer.” Though their conversation seemed plain, Lin Xiao felt a subtle unease. There seemed to be an indescribable attraction, making it difficult for her to ignore his presence. Qiu Ze, though not giving up on teasing and pursuing her, was also secretly captivated by her coldness and independence. Beneath her hard exterior, there was something soft that he couldn’t quite reach. In this atmosphere, their fates were quietly set in motion. Though neither of them expressed it, the impressions they left on each other were deeply etched in their hearts. Qiu Ze might not realize that this encounter had quietly altered the trajectory of his future life. And Lin Xiao, though unaware, would soon find that the confident, humorous man would become one of the most unshakable forces in her inner world. This encounter, full of chance, was destined to carry extraordinary meaning.
