Chapter 11: The Final Test After several months of joint effort, Qiu Ze and Lin Xiao’s life gradually fell into place. Lin Xiao’s art exhibitions gained considerable recognition, and her creative inspiration began flowing freely. Qiu Ze successfully took on several key projects, and his career was thriving. Their relationship grew even stronger, with mutual support and understanding becoming the most precious parts of their lives. Though they faced setbacks and challenges, they learned how to face them together and draw strength from those experiences. However, fate always seems to throw its final test when happiness begins to settle in. One day, Qiu Ze received a phone call from his father. The voice on the other end was urgent. His father informed him of a shocking piece of news: "Qiu Ze, our company may be facing a massive crisis. You need to come back immediately to handle a series of issues." It turned out that due to changes in the market environment and internal management oversights, a major investment had failed, leading the company into severe financial distress, with the potential risk of bankruptcy. Qiu Ze’s mood instantly turned heavy. In that moment, he felt as if he were suffocating, and all the future plans he had seemed uncertain. For the past few months, he had been focused on his relationship with Lin Xiao and the development of his career, neglecting the internal state of the company. Now, the crisis facing the company forced him to make a choice—should he stay by Lin Xiao’s side, or should he dedicate himself to saving the company? He quickly packed his bags, preparing to return home to handle the company’s affairs. However, Lin Xiao noticed his anxiety and came over to ask, "What’s going on, Qiu Ze? You seem uneasy." Qiu Ze sighed deeply and told her the situation. "I have to go back. The situation at the company is very critical, and it may affect my future." He paused for a moment. "I don’t know what to do. I can’t leave the company hanging, but I also don’t want to neglect you and our relationship." A complex emotion flickered in Lin Xiao’s eyes. She understood Qiu Ze’s sense of responsibility and could empathize with his dilemma. Taking a deep breath, she looked at him and said, "Qiu Ze, you’ve given so much for me, and you know I don’t want to be a burden to you. If you must go, I’ll support you." Qiu Ze took her hand, his eyes filled with confusion. "But I’m afraid that during the time I’m gone, our relationship will be tested. I’m afraid you’ll feel lonely, and that the distance between us will grow again." Lin Xiao smiled faintly, her voice gentle. "Our relationship has already been through many challenges, hasn’t it? If we’re truly strong enough, nothing can separate us. Even if you have to deal with the company’s crisis, our love will still be the most important thing. I know you’ll come back, and while you’re away, I’ll try to stay strong." Qiu Ze looked at her, his gaze complicated, filled with guilt and gratitude. He knew that Lin Xiao had become more mature and more willing to understand and support him, but he still didn’t want her to feel lonely because of his sense of responsibility. After a moment of hesitation, he made a decision. "I will do my best to solve the company’s issues, but I promise, no matter what, I’ll come back. I won’t let our relationship be affected." Before he left, Qiu Ze tightly hugged Lin Xiao, as if trying to transfer all his anxiety and concerns to her. Their eyes met, and the understanding and trust between them seemed to make that moment extraordinarily profound. Back home, Qiu Ze was plunged into the company’s complex financial situation and various crises. In order to save the company, he set aside all personal matters and worked tirelessly day and night. Meanwhile, Lin Xiao stayed in the city, continuing her art creation. Although she appeared calm on the surface, a sense of unease brewed inside her. She couldn’t help but miss Qiu Ze, especially during lonely nights when the empty room made her feel profoundly alone. Days passed, and Qiu Ze still hadn’t contacted her. Lin Xiao began to feel uneasy, filled with doubts. She started to imagine that if Qiu Ze remained this busy, he might ignore her and even forget the promise they made to each other. She knew she had to make a choice: should she continue waiting, or should she take the initiative to find him and resolve her anxiety and fears? Finally, on a rainy night, Lin Xiao made a decision. She called Qiu Ze, but the call went to his voicemail. Not waiting any longer, she decided to go see him in person, to understand the extent of the pressure he was under and to see if their relationship could withstand this final test. When Lin Xiao stood before Qiu Ze’s company building, she felt a mix of nervousness and anticipation. She pushed open the door and walked toward the familiar office. To her surprise, she found Qiu Ze sitting at his desk, exhausted, with piles of paperwork in front of him. His eyes were filled with anxiety and fatigue. When he saw Lin Xiao walk in, his gaze softened instantly, as if he had seen a ray of light through the despair. "Lin Xiao, what are you doing here?" Qiu Ze stood up and walked toward her, his voice tinged with surprise and guilt. Lin Xiao smiled and shook her head. "I know you’re busy, but I also know that the only way to ease your pressure is through communication between us. I don’t want to see you carrying all these burdens alone." Qiu Ze sighed deeply and hugged her tightly. "I’m sorry I made you worry. You are the most important person to me. No matter how tough things are at the company, I don’t want to lose you." Lin Xiao gently patted his back. "We’ll get through this together. No matter what the future holds, I believe we can face it together. Your sense of responsibility and my love will help us overcome any obstacle." This time, Qiu Ze finally realized that no matter how difficult the challenges and pressures were, they couldn’t break the bond between them. The real test wasn’t the external challenges, but how the two of them could face the storm together. Eventually, he decided to leave the company’s operations in the hands of his team and realign his priorities to return to Lin Xiao’s side. This trial only made them more certain that no matter how many unknown challenges lay ahead, as long as they loved each other, the future would be full of endless possibilities. Their story, perhaps, had only just begun.
