Chapter three

1486 Words
Joan was the younger sister to Angelus, the prime emperor of the Vampires. She was very close to him the way a parasite is close to its host. This was as a result of the way they were brought up. Their parents were killed during a mass m******e of the Vampires, thereby rendering the both of them orphans. Angelus took care of like a father and always protected whenever the humans came around. He also gave her physical and mental training for which she was very grateful of and always vowed to repay him. A night after rampage of the Vampires on Pitman's apartment, she was with her friends when they started talking about Pitman. They were talking about how dangerous he is and how Angelus have vowed to brutally murder him. Joan developed some interest in the gossip and decided to join in it. She called her friend Frances, and asked about what was going on. There is this old hag who is pestering us. He took out some juveniles two days ago and some adult vamps two weeks ago at a garage. So what is my big bro going to do about, Joan asked curiously. He said he is going to make him pay for everything he has caused the vampire territory even it means killing him slowly. Joan heaved a sigh of relief and said I am to the bar, just wanna grab a drink two. Are you coming along? Frances replied, I wish I can come but I am really busy and I have to help Jessie with her hair. There's no problem, I can go alone, she said and took off. As she left the compound, some vampire men folks that were chatting around the corner called out to her. She simply ignored them. Joan would simply pass as one of the most attractive vamps in that area. She was a tall blonde and had a straight. The colour of her eyes were blue and she had a perfect set of teeth. She was in her late thirties. Unlike the other vampires, she often mingled with the humans without attacking them or carrying out any violent action on them. She only drank the blood of prisoners who were kept in their dungeon back in their fortress and who of course was doomed to die. She was already popular among the humans but not all knew her true identity. She had regularly warned about this social development by her brother but in this case she never paid heed to him. She herself never liked the idea of this war between the humans and the Vampires because she believed that the both of them can live together in peace. And this seemed impossible because even if they did, the vamps will always need blood and humans will constantly be the source of it. Even if the vamps decided to make use of man made or artificial blood like ones found in blood banks or even the blood of animals they will not be fully enriched or even as strong as they will be when they drink the natural blood of man. Stopped by a local bar and ordered a drink. Of recent, she had made it a daily habit of stopping by this local bar in particular and grabbing one or two drinks. Little did she know that this her daily habit would one day change her life and the vampire dynasty forever. ------ After passing a night at Adrian's house Pitman left the house promising he would come back against the warnings of the wealthy Adrian. He stopped by a local and decided to grab some beer just to wind off a little. As he stepped in, he notices a very pretty woman at the other end of the counter. He was regular patronizer of this bar and he had never seen this woman before. He made his way right to the and ordered a mug of beer. The lady was having glass of wine. Unlike himself, he had never been attracted to any other woman since the death of his family but this one was different. This one just had a charm he could not resist. He decided to maintain himself but he assured himself that if he could not withstand her glaring beauty he was going to talk to her. He remembered his younger days when he was every lady's dream. When he had the guts and the handsomeness to approach any girl he was ever interested in and they will never turn him down. But now everything was different. Now he looked rogue. He no longer shave his beard which were now gradually turning white and his face was no longer as smooth as it used to be and his hair was something else. But above all he still maintained his physique which was like that of a teenage body builder which he was happy for. Even after the tragic event, Pitman never lost focus and never stopped his regular workout. He paid a visit to the gym at least once a week and always watched his diet and he never failed to show off his biceps whenever the need arose. This was why despite his old age he wasn't messed with. He decided he could not hold it any longer and decided to approach her but then at that moment something came to his mind, what she was a vamp? He shoved that suggestion saying to himself that vamps are not as good looking as the damsel he was looking at. He threw caution to the wind and arranged his hair, arranged his beard took a sip of his beer for luck and approached her. He caused a stirr. The younger men in the building were looking at him with curiosity hoping he was not about to do what they were thinking and just like movie in the cinema he did it. The lady herself did not even know what to think of it but she comported herself. Hello dear, Pitman started. Am good how about you, she answered. He continued, I was just having a drink over there when my old eyes caught you and I must say, it's been long since I saw someone of your stature and beauty in this bar and moreover around this part. He paused for effect. Shit. She wasn't blushing. Well this was not the first time she received compliments like this and it was not going to be the last. So tell me, did you move in here newly he asked trying to make her talk. Nope, she answered, I just find this bar cool and I stop by most of the time. So where do you work at?? I don't work I am just living with my big bro. She answered. So what about your family, she asked him. Pitman didn't want to take this personal, but on normal basis whenever he is this similar question it always ends up in the physical way that is him beating the living day light out of the person especially when they know what happened. But this was a different case because this innocent lady clearly didn't know of that tragic event. So he answered that question in a different manner. Don't mind my looks it's not as if I am really old it's just that I don't pay a lot of attention to my looks. He replied. So don't think there is a lot of gap between our age difference. The lady looked at him knowing for sure that this was not true. The age gap was glaring but she wasn't in the mood for this. She just came to wind off. She took a last sip of her drink and stood up to leave. On standing up She was surprised at the number of attention this little discussion had drawn. She was getting embarrassed. Why not drop your number so that I can call you later, Pitman asked. Don't you think it's early for that, I will come back next tomorrow so if you wanna talk you can come around. She replied. No problem cutie pie I am looking forward to seeing you next tomorrow. Pitman said. Until then, she said as she left the bar. He was happy, he did not make a wrong move. Something he admired about the girl was that despite her showing her disinterest, she packaged herself well in a polite manner. At that moment he knew that he was not going to miss that date for the whole wide world. Oh wait did he just call it date, yes, it was a date. He didn't believe he was doing this but he did not have a choice. He quickly gulped down his remaining beer and prepared to leave. He and Adrian we're meeting with the scientist tomorrow morning and he wanted to punctual as always
