Chapter 32 The hostess led us to a table in the back and gave us menus. Jan and I caught up for several minutes before picking them up. Although we hadn’t seen each other in several months, it felt like it had been yesterday. She looked terrific, as always, with her frosted blond hair pulled up in a twisted bun. She wore a black suit with a red silk blouse and heels and carried her signature crème-colored Kate Spade bag which held everything imaginable. After our waiter came by for the second time, we picked up on the hint and ordered chicken Caesar salads and a bottle of La Crema Chardonnay.
