His Love

Chapter 2 Deran’s pov I had no idea where I was going, but my wolf and I knew that we had to follow that scent. She was waiting for us. We finally stopped in front of a door that led to some sort of clothing store. I took a deep breath and walked through. As soon as the door opened, her scent seemed to wash over me. My eyes found her quickly, she was working with a customer and never even glanced my way. She talked amiably with the customer as she took payment for the purchase. I knew I was just standing there like a creeper because the customer gave me a funny look as they left the store. I backed up to the closed door and quickly turned the lock. The woman before me giggled as she finally turned to me. “Are you trying to keep me in or others out?” “Both.” Thornton and I said together. She arched her brow and slowly walked around the counter. “What is your name, warrior?” “Deran.” I answered, not seeming able to speak more. She laughed again and it was such a beautiful sound. “Aren’t you forthcoming, mate. My name is Charlotte, Charlie.” I stepped towards her, trying to keep myself from grabbing her and pulling her close. “I do not intend to come across as uncaring or stupid. Your beauty has simply rendered me speechless.” I said, before I could think about my words. She smiled and stepped closer, just a couple more steps and we would be within reach of each other. “Mate, we have much to talk about, but if you do not pull me into your arms this very minute-.” I moved swiftly, before she could finish her thoughts. I wrapped my arms around her and reveled in her warmth and smell. The second we touched, I realized just how much I had been holding my wolf back. He was on the verge of losing it because he wanted her near so badly. It briefly crossed my mind that it wasn’t normal for a wolf to react so strongly, but I pushed the thought away. Only concerned that my mate and her wolf felt cherished. “I do.” She said softly. “You do what?” Feeling stupid for not understanding. “Feel cherished, I do.” I looked down at her and then felt her thoughts in my mind. She wants me to feel the same way, cherished by her. “We can talk about how weird this is later. For now, just please don’t let go.” I pressed my lips to her head, “I won’t ever let you go.” I felt her push closer into me and her smile against my chest. We stayed that way for a while and when I felt her begin to tire, I picked her up and headed to the back of the store. “Keep going until you hit the very back.” She said, but stayed cuddled in my arms, not attempting to walk on her own. I did as she said and found a small kitchen with a table and two chairs. I sat down in one, placing my mate on my lap. After another half an hour, she sighed and sat up, though making no move to get off my lap. We stared at each other, neither of us knowing where to start. Finally she spoke, “What pack are you a part of?” “The Red Wolf Pack, located in the Blue Ridge Mountain area. I am in this area meeting a new weapons dealer.” I ran my thumb along the side of her face, simply not able to stop touching her. “You don’t smell like a rogue, but I also do not smell more wolves.” She smiled, “Our pack is quite small, only five of us. We have a house on the west side of town that we all share. We don’t even have a pack name, but the mood goddess brought us together. We all felt drawn to this town and have been together for three years now.” “Are there males in your pack?” Jealous at the mere thought that they have been around Charlotte. She put her hands on either side of my face, making sure that I’m seeing her. “Yes, but they have become my brothers. None in our pack has yet to meet their mate and we don’t warm each other's beds. We each decided this when we understood that the goddess wanted us to be pack.” I felt the truth in her emotions and nodded my head. I still didn’t like it, but I understand that she is not involved with anyone. “What about you, Deran? Are you in a relationship with another woman?” She arched her brows, expecting the same transparency she has given me. “No, I am not with another. You have nothing to worry about, Love.” She smiled brightly at my words and eased herself back against my chest. “Have you ever heard of a bond like this before?” I asked. “No.” She said, but I heard some hesitancy in her tone. Taking a deep breath, she continued. “The moon goddess came to me the night my pack came together. She told me that we were needed for an important task, one that she would share later. In the meantime, we were to prepare.” She paused, but I knew there was more so I stayed quiet. Waiting for her to gather her thoughts. “She told me one other thing before she left. She said that the bond with my mate would be different than that of other wolves. That was it, no why or how.” I could hear a little frustration in her voice, but I understood. The information was nice to know, but did little good without more information. “When do you have to leave?” Charlotte asked. “Not for a week.” I paused, unsure how to ask what was on my mind. “I am the alpha of my pack, will you come with me and be my Luna? Your pack can join as well if they want.” She looked up at me, “Of course I’m moving with you, silly wolf. We can talk to my pack tomorrow about moving. For now, I need to just be close to you. I don’t feel like it’s time to let go yet.” She said. I could tell that she was embarrassed about needing to stay close to me, but I felt the same way. “I have that same pull. We are together on this. Our bond is different, maybe we are not meant to part.” I shrugged, not concerned. My wolf and I were not concerned one bit that we would never part. I could tell that she rolled her eyes at me and that made me chuckle.
