Chapter 9
Balinda’s pov
I could feel Sarina moving in my mind as I slowly began to wake up. I couldn’t remember falling asleep. I took a deep breath in and I smelled the most amazing scent.
My eyes popped open as I remembered that my mate had found me…and I brought him home. Well, sort of. Technically, he brought me home.
I tried to move a little so I could see him, but he had wrapped an iron arm around me and had me against his chest. I wiggled a little, but his grip on me just got tighter.
“Baby, why are you wiggling?” His voice was all groggy and husky; I loved it.
“I just wanted to see you. I’m sorry that I woke you.” I said quietly.
His grip loosened immediately, but he didn't let go. I turned so we were facing each other and he slowly opened his eyes, blinking several times in an effort to push sleep away.
“You can go back to sleep.” I moved a hand up to his neck and then slowly up into his hair. It wasn’t long, just long enough to run my fingers through it.
He growled a little, “I’m suddenly not tired anymore.” He pulled me closer, bringing a hand up to the back of my neck. He quickly pressed his lips to mine and pulled me impossibly closer.
I wrap my arms around his neck and feel the love that he is trying so desperately to show me. I try to show him the same.
After a while, we slow down and part just a little bit. Close enough to breathe in each other’s air.
I watch his eyes cloud over a little and his eyebrows go up. When a wolf’s eyes cloud over like this it means they are mind linking. I wait patiently for him to finish his conversation as I run my fingers through his hair at the base of his neck. He chuckles a little and pecks my lips.
“My mom would like you and your dad to come over for dinner tonight. She was worried when I didn't come home after my shift. I usually let her know if I’m going to be late so she doesn’t think something is wrong. When I told her about you, she actually squealed in my head.” He smiled, chuckling at his mom.
I smiled, “Yes. We will come. I can’t wait to meet your family. Let me link my dad.” I pecked his lips this time, okay maybe a little longer than just a peck.
“Daddy?”
“Yes, baby?”
“Gavin’s mom has invited us to come over for dinner tonight and I accepted.”
“I’ll be back soon to go with you.”
I heard it in my dads voice, he’s ready. A few tears slipped out and I squeezed my hands in Gavin’s shirt.
“Baby, what’s wrong?”
“I promise I’ll tell you everything that I learned from my dad, but not right now.” I breathed in his scent and then looked up at him. “Please?”
He instantly nodded, “Of course, we’ll talk when we’re ready.”
Gavin held me tight until I knew I had to get up and shower so we could go to dinner. I went into the bathroom and took a nice hot shower, it felt so good to be clean. I still had dirt and stuff on me from my run last night.
I wrapped up in a towel and walked into my room, knowing full well that my mate was sitting on my bed waiting for me. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him watching me. Both with attraction and curiosity.
I pulled out my clothes and let my towel drop to the floor so I could throw some clothes on. I heard a growl and then the bathroom door shut. I giggled to myself. After a moment I heard the shower start.
Sarina, having a mate is going to be fun.
You know what they say about payback, don’t you? She was giggling with me.
Yeah, but I have no doubt that we’ll enjoy it.
What happened to being afraid of him?
I don’t know, but that fear is long gone.
We giggled together as we finished getting dressed. I don’t like to wear makeup, but Sarina insisted I put on a little mascara and lip gloss. She liked the hippie turquoise skirt and white tank top that I chose. We parred it with a denim jacket and matching earrings.
I was pinning some hair up when Gavin came out of the bathroom in clean clothes. I didn’t see, but he must have taken his bag in there with him. He was just wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, but he looked great to me.
He looked me up and down as he walked over to me. “You look beautiful, Baby. Even if you are a little vixen.” He leaned in and nipped at my lips before giving me a hungry kiss.
I smiled up at him, my heart felt so full that I couldn’t even tease him.
I heard the front door open and close, we took that as our cue to head downstairs.
