CHAPTER 2

1026 Words
After that dramatic moment, I grabbed my stuff in my room and decided to go to Lucia’s house. I messaged her about my arrival before I started the engine of my car. Lucia is her long time best friend. They’ve been together since birth. Her parents and mine are good friends and we’re cousins. Her mom and my mom are twins. They let me call them Paps and Mama. I knocked on their door and I am welcomed by Mama (Lucia’s mom). “Hey, dear. How are you?” she said and hugged me tight. Her smile is contagious. Every time I look at her, it feels like my mom is still here. “I’m great. I just want to hang out with Lucy, where is she?” She closed the door behind us. I roamed my eyes in their home as I sit on their couch. Family pictures are scattered everywhere in the house. It makes me wonder, what if Dad did not cheat, are we still complete? “Come and have a breakfast first.” She said. “Thanks mama, but I had an amazing breakfast at home.” I said. With the way she looks at me, I think she knows what I mean by “amazing breakfast”. I tell them everything that is happening in our house. Actually, she’s the one who advised me to never let Hilda and Tricia rule in my territory. “I hope you gave them something to look forward for lunch.” She winks at me. “Daisy, don’t teach the kid stuffs like that.” Paps said coming out from the kitchen. I went to him and gave him a hug. “There’s no room for a damsel in distress. It’s the 21st century. Cinderella is dead but the stepmom and stepsister is in her home.” She answered. “And you’re acting like a fairy god mother.” Paps said that made us laugh. When mom died, I lost dad too. He’s never the same since then. It’s a good thing I have Paps, mama and Lucy. They kept me sane during those times. I left them in the kitchen and went to my main purpose for coming in this house. I knocked in to Lucia’s door but no one answered so I barged in. I am welcomed to the most untidy room for a girl. She’s lying on the floor with a bottle of rum in her hand. Wearing white tube top and high wasted skinny jeans, I can tell that she had a great night. Lucia has a thing for bars. The blaring music, strong alcoholic drinks and sweaty body is her escape. She enjoys the night life but her parents don’t. So, she sneaks out every single night and no one knows how she manages to go home uncaught every time. We are the complete opposite of each other. This is the reason why we became a team. She always tells me where she goes at night and in the morning, I have to go to her and fix her up before mama or paps does. That explains why I’m here. I started by making her stand up which is impossible because of her unbelievable weight. We fell down countless of times with her face on the floor but she still didn’t wake up. I managed to put her in the bed. I started to remove her tube top and I was not surprised by the countless of red marks on her chest. I maybe inexperience but I do know this thing and it is not her secret because she tells me about it. Lucia is very liberated. She’s undeniably gorgeous so a lot of guys chase her. She can get anyone she wants. I can still remember what she did last year. Tricia and I had a major fight. I told Lucia about it and the next morning, Lucia is with Tricia’s boyfriend. This made Tricia heartbroken and me happy. I was about to unzip her jeans when she tapped my hand. “I’m awake.” She said still sleepy. “Great! I’m pissed. What will happen to you if Paps or mama went here before me?” she got up and almost fell again so she seated in the corner of the bed caressing her head. “That’s why you’re here. You will not let that happen, dude.” She said and offered a fist bomb. “Well, I’m sorry to burst your bubble but this will be the last time.” “You say that every time but you still save me every day.” “Why did you drink, this time? It’s not in our schedule.” I asked her because she usually don’t go out on Saturday nights because she knows that dad comes home that time so I can only spend the morning with him but I can’t because of the two witches in the house. “Bobby and I broke up.” She said. “Dude, don’t act like your broken hearted. If you’re a food, Bobby is a side dish. You’re not serious about him.” “I know. But can you believe it? He broke up with me! No one dares to break up with me.” “Maybe she found another girl that’s more worth it?” “She’s with Tricia. Now, you tell me dude. Why?!” “You still have Chester and Gio.” “But I don’t want Tricia to have Bobby.” She said like a child unwilling to give her toys to other kids. I feel like something is off. She never gets drunk because of her break up. This is the first time that she gave me that reason. “Lucrecia.” She doesn’t like it when I call her by her full name. “Tell me the truth. Do you love this boy?” I added. She just looked at me. Suddenly, tears started to fall from her eyes. “Oh, gosh. You do love him.” I said and gave her a hug. “I want him back, Addie.” She said in between her sob. I wiped her tears and put the small hair covering her face behind her ear. “If it’s meant to be, it will be.” I said. I don’t want to sound cliché but it’s the only thing I can say because I never had a boyfriend. I don’t know what to say and I don’t want her to feel alone. So even if I cringed at myself because of what I said, at least it made Lucia feel better.
