CHAPTER TWO

Sofia sat patiently at the table waiting for Alvin who had asked her to come, she sipped a glass of water and bowed her head slightly, then the restaurants doors opened and she looked up expectantly, but it wasn't him, it was a married couple who had come to spend some time together, Sofia was beginning to regret her coming, he must have been playing a prank on her,she casted her head down again and sighed, boys were always the same, and then they were always good at making girls believe that they loved them, here Sofia was thinking Alvin loved her, she was beginning to grow feelings for him and today when they were supposed to have a date he proposed he was nowhere to be found,
"Sorry, I'm late"
Alvin said catching Sofia unawares,
"you made me wonder if you were actually coming" Sofia said raising her head to look at Alvin who was looking unconcerned,
"I'm sorry, I just had some things to do, that's why I couldn't come at the right time,"
Alvin called a waiter and made his order, then the waiter asked ,
"what would you like to have miss?"
"I would like to have steaks and a bottle of champagne if okay by him" Sofia said pointing at Alvin,
"Well it's okay by me" Alvin said, then the waiter strode off to the kitchen to make the order,
"So why did you want me here?" Sofia asked looking straight into Alvin's eyes,
"I just needed someone to talk to"
Alvin replied,looking away,from Sofia's eyes, she smiled seeing that he had avoided her gaze,
"tell me about yourself" Sofia said,sipping some water,
"well my name is Alvin, I'm the son of the principal of your school and I'm in your class, there that's all you need to know about me, now tell me about yourself" Alvin said,
"you mean that's all you know about you, no personal problems, no relationship issues, no family problems?"Sofia asked eager to know more about Alvin, he didn't really seem bulged by her string of questions, but he answered anyways,
"well I have no such problems, only a relationship related problem," Sofia nodded her head considerably,
"Want to talk about it?" she asked as the waiter brought the order,
"thanks" Alvin said and continued,
"you wouldn't really understand but anyways, there's a girl I like but, I don't really know how to approach her, besides,we don't talk that much"
"well I can help you" Sofia said looking at him for approval,
"you need not bother" Alvin said as he ate his meal, Sofia began to eat too as Alvin opened the champagne and filled the cups,
"To friendship" he said raising his glass, Sofia did the same and they cheered, then they drank from their glasses,
"Why don't you tell me about yourself"
Alvin said filling his mouth with a spoonful of food, Sofia didn't know what to say, where should she begin from, she was just getting to know Alvin and she probably couldn't trust him, she sighed and took a deep breath, then she began,
" I'm not a mute, just pretending to be a mute" she said tracing the edge of her glass with her index finger,
"I know you told me that already," Alvin said,
"well, when I got here I pretended to be a mute, because I thought if I really was a mute, I wouldn't get bullied,"
"only people above the ranks don't get bullied" Alvin said,
"when Peter humiliated me and bullied me, I felt like the walls of my world were being torn apart but then you came in, I can't show you how grateful I am, please accept my thanks,"
"I did it because I thought you were mute,"
"and is that why you wanted to take advantage of my silence?" Sofia asked without thinking,
"I'm sorry, nothing can change what I did, I'm sorry," Alvin said,
"you know, I used to like a guy back at Los Angeles before I came here, he dit had me for my own best friend and I wasn't able to retaliate, it was supposed to be our prom night together, but unfortunately i caught them kissing," Sofia said,
"I'm sorry about that, but I- - - i really like you and i want to date you" Alvin said with some sort of reluctancy,
"Alvin, I can't do this, I just can't do it," Sofia said,
"what will Peter say when he sees me going out with you,"
"but that won't happen, I swear,"Alvin said trying to convince Sofia to date him.
"I'm sorry, but there's nothing you can say that'll change my mind, I don't think I'm cut out for this, I'm not worth your love Alvin, im sorry, besides, my wounds aren't healed yet, I'm still suffering over my unfortunate breakup which is nothing but two months old, im so sorry, believe me but I can't make your wish come true, I'm sorry. "
Alvin looked dejected with regret, never has a lady turned him down, but now she just turned him down, by saying she couldn't date him, he breathed in sharply and called the waiter, when the waiter arrived, Alvin paid the Bill's and left, outside the restaurant Sofia heard the engine of a car snort angrily and she watched it reverse then plunge into the road with terrifying speed, she stood up from her seat and took her purse from the table as she walked out of the restaurant in confusion, moving along the road with her mind flowing with unanswered questions, she didn't observe that a car was coming her way, a white Mercedes Benz branded SUV car that gleamed brightly in the moonlight, without caution it pulled up smoothly before her and the driver turned off the engine,
"Excuse me," the driver called out with a tone of respect in his voice, Sofia turned to look at him which she believed to be a big mistake, he was hand some far more handsome than Alvin, who was still dying to have her, the man, yes it was a man, a young man far more older than Sofia, his brown suit was a sign of unlimited power and richness, with his Rolex watch slung over his left wrist and a pair of brown matching shoes to accompany the suit, Alvin was nothing compared to this god of outstanding character and beauty, yes Alvin was nothing compared to this dashing prince,
"Are you okay?" the young man asked with concern,
"do you need help?" he asked again placing his hand on Sofia's shoulder, she couldn't resist him, she couldn't resist the temptation as she laid her head on his chest, but he's just a stranger, a voice said in her head but she was quick to shake it off,
"come, I'll give you a lift" he said as he led Sofia into the car, once in the car, he started the cars engine and drove on slowly to while away time, the journey was silent until Sofia arrived her destination, he came out if the car to open the door for her, then when she was about to leave he said,
"It seems to me like you need a lot of help, this is my business card, we should talk, I'll pick you up tomorrow evening by six, see you" he said as he went into the car waving his hand gently

Sofia sat in front of her aunt looking confused, her aunt looked at her with pity, great pity,
"you should have told him you would think about it" Sofias aunt said,sipping champagne from a cup,
"that didn't come to my mind at the moment" Sofia replied, she stood up and kissed her aunt good night, the next day was going to be a long one.
