CHAPTER FOUR

In the grand meeting hall of the Midnight Claw Pack, the next morning brought together not only the rival alphas, Lucas and Aaron, but also four other alphas from different packs. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of purpose as they discussed matters of paramount importance.

Alpha Jackson of the Riverbend Pack, a friend of Lucas, was among the assembled alphas. Though not as ruthless as Lucas, Jackson was respected for his diplomatic prowess. The other alphas included Alpha Elliot of the Forestsong Pack, Alpha Nathaniel of the Stormwatch Pack, and Alpha Emerson of the Crimson Blaze Pack.

Lucas, his amber eyes fixed on Aaron, started the discussion. "We have a lot to address today, my fellow alphas. Our pack territories are vast, and the constant threat of rogues breaching our borders is ever-present."

Alpha Aaron nodded in agreement, his features composed. "Indeed, Lucas. We must devise a strategy to bolster our defenses and share information more efficiently."

Alpha Elliot, a formidable alpha with piercing blue eyes, spoke next. "I suggest we establish a network of scouts and border patrols, ensuring that no rogue goes undetected."

Alpha Nathaniel, a tall and imposing figure, added, "And we should coordinate our efforts in monitoring the rogue activities near our borders. Sharing intelligence will be crucial."

Lucas shifted in his seat, feeling a weight lift from his chest as he made his decision known. "Speaking of coordination, there's another matter we must address. Sofia, a wolf from Alpha Aaron's pack, is my true mate, and I've decided to keep her here in the Midnight Claw Pack."

Alpha Aaron's gaze met Lucas's, a mixture of surprise and understanding in his eyes. "I see.

But I can't allow that, you are known for your ruthlessness and Sofia has been through a lot. She needs a mate that will love and care for her. I can't allow you to keep her".

Lucas growled loudly and almost pounced on Alpha Aaron, but he was restrained by Kayden, his Beta, and Alpha Jackson " Who are you to keep me from my mate". The other Alphas also tried to relieve the tension and one of them spoke up "It's against pack laws to keep mates away from each other and that, too, an alpha who will feel the bond ten times stronger". Alpha Elliot replied " I believe it's up to the she wolf to decide if she wants to be with him or not" At this, Lucas growled at the thought of his mate rejecting him, though he may not accept her she can't reject him. "I will do everything to keep her here," he said.

Alpha Aaron replied "If she accepts you please keep her happy and care for her. I hope she finds happiness and acceptance here."

As the discussion continued, strategies were outlined, alliances forged, and promises were made to strengthen the bonds between the packs. Alpha Jackson, ever the diplomat, mediated any disagreements that arose, ensuring a sense of unity prevailed.

The meeting concluded with a sense of purpose and camaraderie, as the alphas left the hall, ready to implement the strategies discussed. Alpha Lucas had made a significant decision, one that would change the course of not only his pack but also the life of his true mate, Sofia.

Amidst the complex web of politics and power, a glimmer of hope and unity had emerged, as the alphas united against a common threat and forged alliances that would endure through the challenges yet to come.

Alaric and Ethan are together in Alaric’s room, seemingly discussing or planning something.

Alaric: My father has confirmed that the Alpha has decided to keep her.

Ethan: Then you have to act fast. We will be leaving soon and if we are unable to make her go back with us, then there’s no more chance for you.

Alaric: I know I plan to invite her to the woods in my father’s name and find a way to overpower her, then you can bring the crowd over. Even if Alpha Lucas doesn’t want to reject her, the shame of everyone seeing his mate that way will make him reject her.

Ethan: Are you sure this plan will work? You are the last person she trusts. She won’t go to the woods with you.

Alaric: Not if my father’s name is involved.

Ethan, let’s give it a try then.

Alaric: I can’t wait to have that proud b***h

In the mid-afternoon, most of the wolves go to have a run in the woods or participate in one pack's social activity or the other. Alaric walks to Sophia’s room and knocks at the door.

Sophia: Who is there?

Alaric: (lowers his voice) I have a message from Alpha Aaron.

Sophia opened the door, saw that it was Alaric and rushed to close the door. Alaric forced the almost-closed door open and went in.

Sophia: Alaric, please leave my room. We don’t have anything to discuss together in the same room.

Alaric: Baby you don’t think because you have found your mate I will stay away, right? ( scoffs), it just increased my determination to have you.

Sophia: I don’t care. Just get out

Alaric moves closer to her, but she moves back. He pushes her to the wall, and even though she has always had more strength than normal, she says she is still overpowered by the bastard with Alpha genes. Sophia is annoyed and her eyes flash black her wolf’s eyes.

Alaric: since you don’t want the easy way. Why don’t we jump the processes and see if you can still be proud when you become mine? ( Moves to grab her and forcefully hug her)

Sophia screams.

Fortunately enough, Kayden, who had come back to the pack house to recover something he had left behind, heard the scream and decided to find out what was going on. He caught Alaric in his actions and gave the scoundrel the beating of his life. Sophia, although grateful for the aid, felt devastated and curled up to weep even though Kayden had already bundled Alaric out of the room.

When Lucas returned, he disciplined Alaric in front of his father. He growled violently and beat him up. Of course, Alaric was no match compared to him. Finally, Kayden pulled Lucas away but not before he threatened him never to step foot on his land again.

It was the final day of the annual visits and the guest packs were getting ready to depart. Bella has decided to stay behind with Lucas even though she is afraid and unsure of the future. She felt it would be better than her original pack. Alaric, who had healed up with the help of werewolf healing, kept to himself, afraid that what he tried to do might be exposed to his father. Knowing he would be in big trouble given how much his father cherished Sophia.

Alpha Aaron called Sophia to the side and spoke to her like a daughter. He had always considered her as one. He tried to talk to Lucas too to treat Sophia well. All he received was a nod. After the departure of the guest packs. Sophia went to the general breakfast room to have breakfast. She doesn’t feel qualified to eat with the Alpha and his aids. Entering the breakfast room, she saw a lot of girls fawning on a pretentious lady. ( silence ensues when her entry is noticed)

Sophia fetched a bowl of cereal and sat down to eat.

First lady: Sheila, do you want me to make more waffles for you?

Sheila: No, don't worry that the Alpha dotes on me doesn’t make me different. I can do stuff like this myself.

2nd Lady: No how can that be, you are about to become the mother of the pack. You are worthy of respect.

3rd lady: ( glances at Sophia) But the Alpha has a mate now.

Sheila: What mate ( chuckles) The Alpha told me a long time ago that I’m the only one fit to be his Luna.

But will the Alpha leave his true mate, who can strengthen him for Sheila? They are not clear about the Alpha and Sheila. The Alpha doesn’t seem to acknowledge her and his aides don't relate with her. All they know is from Sheila.

Sophia glanced at them and exited the breakfast room. She had faced more in life than to be faced by these petty tricks.
