PYRRHUS~
“Why did you save me?” She asked, her eyes not leaving me immediately I stood down beside her.
I didn’t know what to say, I glanced at Leo who bowed at me.
“I shall take my leave now, Lycan. You can take your time” He said and walked out of the room leaving me with her.
The room went dead silent.
I walked closer to where she lay.
“Stop!” She said in a very tough tone, her hazel eyes as sharp as ever, “Don’t come close to me, I don’t know why you brought me to you pack of all places when you could have taken me to the hospital in my pack. Tell me what other motives did you have?”
I watched her.
There was something fierce about her that I couldn’t explain, one that drove me out of my reach in a way that surprised me. I just felt intimidated by this woman so much that I felt myself obeying her to her gestures.
“I… just… I just think you look like someone that I have met in the past”
“That you also f****d right?” She asked with a sarcastic tone that got me tongue tied. “Lies!” She fired at me, “I am not someone you can deceive, I know you know that it was my wedding anniversary with Beta Michael, but I left all of a sudden during the event, yet you took me in without knowing what happened? Who does that?”
I was stunned and definitely shocked to my bones and my eyes lit up at her words.
No one, man or woman has ever spoken to me with such authority and audacity. Something was intimidating about her and her eyes spoke of nothing but anger and sarcasm at my foolishness I guess.
I think its true. I don’t really know what happened given the fact that I arrived at the event late and Beta Michael was already marking a woman. At that same time, she was leaving the house and I caught her scent.
But how should I explain to this lady whose eyes sparked with such tancity? I cleared my throat finally to say a word.
“Listen, you are in my pack and I don’t have to give you a reason for helping you. I mean, you looked like the woman I slept with and I happen to see Beta Michael marking a woman so I basically helped you. What I expected from you is a show of gratitude and not this attitude you are displaying.”
She scoffed and chuckled dryly.
“Really?” She raised a brow, “Gratitude you say? Well, its gratitude that you took me away when I wanted to be gone from that place” She shut her eyes tightly and groaned in frustration. I walked closer but she shoved her hand at me
“Stay the f**k away from me! Do not move an inch close to me, Please!” she yelled rudely.
I was pissed by her rudeness but something in me held back my anger.
“Don’t get me wrong, If you hadn’t fainted then I wont take you against your will and I don’t know anywhere inn your pack that is why you are here is there any offence with that?” I asked with slight annoyance in my voice.
“Excuse me?”
I shook my head. “Yes, you heard me right. Fine, indeed, I don’t know you but no beast with a heart will see a fainting person and not choose to help. If you know men who act like that, I am not one and I won’t decide to abandon a stranger not even after you fainted in my arms. All I thought was that you are the woman I slept with but since you said you are not then I expected was your gratefulness and understanding and I’ll send you away but obviously, you are trying to blame me for all your misfortunes. Excuse me, I have other business to attend to.” I couldn’t help the way I felt, there was something odd about the whole ordeal that for a moment, I forgot why I came to see her.
I had actually came to send her away but here she was making me loose the ounce of my patience and control more with that tantalizing scent she had.
For the first time since THAT DAY, I forgot about my curse.
I went into my office but couldn’t think straight.
‘Pyrrhus, Our mate’ Theo, my wolf voiced inside my head as I slumped on the bed with an exhausted sigh.
“I know she was my mate the moment I saw her last year. But you know we can’t be together, remember our predicament?”
‘She’s our fated mate Pyrrhus, won’t you consider taking the risk?’ Theo asked me again.
“Come on Man, I can f**k some girls in a corner if you are hungry but talking about that lady, I think I will let go. I can’t risk her life like I risked HERS” sadness clouded my heart as I said this.
‘Why did you hate the road because you are missing home? Why did you punish yourself when you are innocent? That Lady is our fated mate but I can’t access her wolf yet, I can’t be patient any longer do something’
My heart became heavy.
