Prologue:

215 Words
It is said that there is no bond as powerful, as all-consuming, as the bond between two werewolf souls under the light of the moon. Sure, vampire mates exist, as they do for faeries and witches, but their connections are purely within the human plane.      Werewolves love with two-part souls: the faithful and the feral. Love between wolves is all-encompassing, with animal instincts driving human connection. When a wolf finds their mate, legend says that their worlds shift and gravity moves. Their lives now revolve around each other, and when one dies, the other will soon follow.     This is why rejection is so uncommon among werewolves. To deny your mate is to break your own heart. When a wolf rejects their moon-ordained mate, for whatever reason, their bond is severed and a hole is left behind inside their heart.      A hole only their mate can fill.      Now, it is true that I am no expert on werewolf mates. I know what I know now because of what I have gone through. I have experienced the joy of mating and the soul-tearing pain of rejection. Everything I learned is because of my mate.      Because of him.     My mate.      The love of my life.     And the man who destroyed me more than anyone or anything ever could.
