Chapter 7 Owen Owen was busy with the developing case in Arizona. He had assembled information about a person by the name of Buck Savage. Savage had indeed found a map that he claimed showed the location of the Dutchman's gold mine near the lower end of weaver's needle deep in the Superstition Mountains. Owen met Savage in a Phoenix coffee shop. Savage revealed the map and the story of the Dutchman's gold mine as they chatted. Savage related his story finding the map and complained he had not yet had time to explore the location. He was certain about the map. It was accurate, all right. Owen proposed to Savage that his employers, a group of investors, were willing to pay him $25,000 for the privilege of accompanying him to the location of the mine according to the map.
