Chapter 2

675 Words
Colonel Jack Jones of the armed forces, serves on the ground, was dedicated in the army to special missions, by orders of his father General Jones. A tough man with a difficult character, he is hard to talk to. He and his father have very different points of view. His mother died six years ago and he was her only son, his sisters married soldiers and one of them, thanks to the war, was already a widow, and his children never came to his father. The militia took away many things from the Jones family and one of them was the communication between father and son. Jack only took orders from his father as his commanding general and nothing else. That"s why he left home to live alone. No dog, no cat, no one to tell him how to act, or what to say or do. Jack was once on the verge of marriage but their relationship so perfect and it didn"t work out. And he had already seen too many failed relationships and too many divorces among friends and acquaintances to desire a relationship with another woman. He was comfortable with his solitude. He lived quietly, and had no problems. Well, not exactly, his father was obsessed with the idea of his son Jack getting married and as if that wasn"t enough with the daughter of his friend General Jeferson. She was cute there was no denying it, she was nice, but he wasn"t attracted to her. He didn"t know if it was because of his father or because he just wasn"t attracted to her. He didn"t connect with her. General Jeferson"s daughter was pretty, polite, but she just couldn"t get Jack Jones" attention. He didn"t know what was wrong with her, he liked the girl and every time he was invited to dinner he knew that the dinner invitation was meant to help them get to know each other better so that a mutual feeling could be born. But the truth was that Jack already knew her and didn"t like her, he had no idea what else they wanted from him. His mind was made up. Marriage was not for him, he thought he would not make any woman in his life suffer. He had seen many women mourn their partners and become widows because of the war. He had seen his sister and mother suffer because of the army. For Jack Jones, though, his mother was killed while her husband was alive. Her father never had time for her. He consigned her to oblivion and she put up with her husband ignoring her until she became ill and died. Only her son Jack was there, by her side and watched her tears fall on her bed and faced her goodbye. So every time the desire for marriage and a family crossed his mind he remembered all that pain and said to himself, "I won"t do that to any woman." "Just! ""That"s how I"m going to live" "Besides my passion is medicine and without my father"s permission I graduated as a doctor - surgeon, I succeeded despite his refusals, and someday I will leave all this and be what I want to be, a doctor". "For now I will keep quiet and together with my father, his friend General Jeferson and his daughter Lana I will be present at the reception of new members at the base, but I do not want to be my father"s shadow" "I want my own life". "Even if hedoes not agree" "Jack" His father called him "I want you to accompany Lana on " "Excuse me dad" Jack interrupted him. "But I told Lieutenant Tomas that I"d go see the new equipment before I accompanied you" "I"ll see you there then" Jack told him and left he was walking fast to get as far away from his father as he could, when he was running away from his father suddenly and without realizing it he received a blow and fell on the grass on something very soft.
