Marianna,
I stood on the second floor, watching his back from above. Xavier Delanor. He wasn't just confronting me. He was testing me. The corner of his lips kept twitching as though he was amused rather than offended.
" Tsk. This is not what I expected!" My jaw tightened.
" You wanted to provoke him!" Dawn scoffed.
" People like him usually start barking and getting angry. Especially since it's about his beloved woman and that old hag!"
" I don't think so!" Dawn muttered. " He grew up in the world of ruthlessness and power. He wouldn't care about petty things like this. However -"
" I am the first person who dared to question him!" I completed the sentence.
Dawn hummed. " Let's go. We need to take some rest!"
I nodded before turning toward the Luna's chamber. One thing was certain. Xavier wouldn't let me go that easily. He might already be watching me closely after I messed with him.
The quieter ones were always the most dangerous. People like him loved letting their prey run as far as they could. The moment their prey believed they had escaped, those predators would clip their wings.
Tsk. I love people who mess with me. It makes me feel less guilty.
After settling inside the room, the first thing that caught my attention was the pile of files scattered across the desk.
What a mess.
With a sigh, I sat down and started arranging everything properly. Halfway through organizing them, my movements slowed.
Honestly, I felt a little sympathy for Seraphina. Royal relationships were always filled with ugly stories. Alphas keeping lovers before marriage and then marrying someone else for power wasn't uncommon. It was cruel, but normal in this world.
Looking at the files, I didn't even know what was inside them. But one thing was obvious. That woman had sat here for years managing this household, yet the true title never belonged to her.
If she wasn't such a b***h, I might never have messed with her. I had always possessed a soft spot for women like her. At least until they decided to torture someone weaker than themselves.
If my man couldn't give me the respect I deserved, I would discard him without hesitation.
Unfortunately, I was far too heartless to care for long. Every action carried consequences. Since she dared to mess with me and my sister, I would make sure she understood exactly who she offended.
Nearly half an hour passed before everything was finally arranged. Just as I decided to take a shower, my phone buzzed.
My eyes darkened at the sight of my father's name flashing on the screen.
But exhaustion won over irritation. After taking a quick shower, I collapsed onto the bed.
" Good night, Marie. Sweet dreams!"
" Good night, Dawn!" I whispered softly before closing my eyes.
As the calmness of the night slowly pulled me under, old memories drifted through my mind. Memories I had no desire to revisit.
All I wanted was one peaceful night.
However, that tranquillity shattered beneath a crushing weight on my chest. A deep animalistic grunt vibrated near my ear, instantly forcing my eyes open.
The foul scent of Rogues slammed into my nostrils.
My heartbeat stumbled.
Rogues?
A massive Rogue wolf towered above me, saliva dripping onto my chest while its unnaturally large claws dug painfully into my shoulders. Hot breath fanned across my face as its blurry eyes locked onto my neck.
Another Rogue circled the other side of the bed, growling lowly with the same starving hunger.
For one brief second, my brain stopped functioning.
How the hell did two Rogues enter the Alpha residence? This place was heavily guarded.
The wolf above me lowered its head, fangs grazing dangerously close to my throat as it inhaled my scent.
Then my attention shifted to the custom-made collar around its neck. It sparked under the light.
My eyes narrowed. Someone kept these things as pets? And whoever did it lived in this damn Packhouse.
" Grrr!"
Its jaws snapped open before lunging straight for my neck.
Instinct moved faster than thought. My hand shot upward, forcing its jaw away mere inches before those fangs could tear through my throat.
The sheer force nearly crushed my wrist.
" f**k -"
The beast snarled violently, claws ripping through the mattress as its weight pinned me harder against the bed.
Muscles burned as I shoved upward with everything I had. The second Rogue suddenly leapt from the side.
Sharp claws slashed across my arm before I managed to kick it away.
Pain stung instantly.
" Tsk!"
Before the first one could bite again, my knee drove hard into its stomach. The beast stumbled just enough for me to twist sideways and throw it off the bed.
A loud crash echoed through the room as it slammed into the wall.
The second Rogue attacked immediately.
Its jaws nearly locked around my throat before my forearm jammed between its teeth. Fangs pierced my sleeve as the pressure almost snapped bone.
A dangerous growl escaped my lips.
Wrong move.
Snatching the silver dagger from the nightstand, I drove it straight into the creature's side.
The Rogue howled and thrashed violently. Furniture overturned around us while blood splattered across the floor and sheets.
Yet it still refused to die. Its claws raked across my thigh, forcing me backward. Irritation surged through me.
" Disturbing my sleep was your biggest mistake."
With a savage twist, the dagger plunged deeper until warm blood flooded over my hand.
The beast collapsed with a strangled whimper.
Breathing heavily, I barely had a second before the first Rogue lunged again from behind.
This time its claws tore through my shoulder, shoving me hard against the wall.
The impact rattled through my bones. A low growl escaped my throat as rage slowly replaced the pain.
Whoever trained these mutts had taught them exactly where to attack. Every single attempt targeted my neck. Those looked balanced, aimed and controlled.
My breathing steadied. Then slowly, I lifted my chin.
Blood slid down my arm while irritation pulsed violently through my veins. Fingers brushed through my damp hair before my lips curled coldly.
" I will f*****g gift your master something unforgettable."
The Rogue charged again. This time there was no hesitation.
The dagger sliced cleanly across its throat before stabbing straight through the side of its neck.
Blood splashed across my face and bedsheets.
A heavy thud followed as its body collapsed near my feet, gray fur brushing against my ankle.
Quiet whimpers filled the room while blood continued pouring from its ruined throat.
Mercy never came.
Crouching down, I grabbed its neck and slowly dragged the blade across its skin.
Golden eyes glowed dangerously in the darkness while wicked satisfaction crawled through me with every second spent skinning them alive from head to toe.
Silence finally settled over the room.
The metallic scent of blood hung thick in the air. Torn furniture, shattered glass, and crimson sheets painted the chamber like a slaughterhouse. My back rested against the wall for a brief moment.
" What a mess," Dawn muttered lazily.
A humourless scoff left my lips.
Then both corpses were dragged toward the balcony before I jumped straight from the second floor.
Cold wind brushed against my skin the moment my boots touched the ground.
Looking up, the Packhouse appeared even more mysterious beneath the darkness of night.
Two guards stood near the entrance, completely distracted by their own conversation. Neither noticed the blood trailing behind me.
" What are you going to do?" Dawn asked.
" Hang them," I replied calmly while tossing the corpses onto the ground.
After wandering around for several minutes, the violent thirst for blood finally began subsiding.
Eventually, I found the ropes I needed.
The bodies were hung directly at the main entrance like slaughtered trophies.
" A welcome gift from the Luna of the Blackhowl Wolf Pack." A smirk tugged at my lips before I disappeared toward the back entrance.
Dawn yawned quietly, already aware that I wouldn't stop until my irritation faded completely.
Climbing back to the second floor, I returned to the ruined room and picked up the bloodied skins with the collars attached.
Crouching down, I flipped their collars.
" Ava and Anna. Lady Seraphina's beloved pets."
A scoff escaped me.
" She even wrote it? Idiot."
I grabbed two separate boxes and were placed on the floor before the skins. Collars were carefully arranged inside them.
" Let's talk to the owner."
Bare feet stepped through warm blood as I walked across the room, leaving crimson footprints behind.
I had no idea where Seraphina stayed. But one thing was certain.
Someone would come to my room tomorrow morning.
Reaching the middle of the hallway, I placed both boxes carefully on the floor before smirking coldly.
" Poor things. You chose the wrong person to mess with."
