Chapter Twelve

1192 Words
I wake up with a pounding headache and my drawn curtains doesn't help at all as the afternoon sun shines into my eyes. I squint and try getting up. My head feels like it is about to explode. Somebody had placed Tylenol and a glass of water on the night stand.Thank goodness. Wait! I really drank so much yesterday. I hope I didn't embarrass myself. I access my brain and I remember...oh yeah it's Jacob not Ken. And wait did I really kiss his cheek? I should really drink more in other to be brave to actually kiss him the next time. Like that could ever happen. "Hey sweet, how is the hangover? Lexy says inviting herself into my room. I try rolling my eyes but it only leads to a pang in my skull. "Not good at all. This is why I try to avoid alcohol" I say and groan into my pillow. she snickers and pat my head "Are you staying home today?" she questions. "why?"I ask staggering to the bathroom, Lexy following behind. "you are never home on Sundays. Always at one church or the other" she leans on the doorframe of the bathroom. "Seriously Lexy, I have only been here for five days if I am right and you are already finding ways of ditching me. Thank goodness I got a job" I answer sticking my paste filled brush into my mouth. I can feel her glare at the back of my head. "you know I am not trying to ditch you..." she rolls her eyes. "humour me" I reply rinsing off my mouth. "you are so annoying" she turns away walking out the room. "I don't mean to be such a meanie but you of all people should know how bad a hangover can be" I yell after her. I hear her grumble but she don't turn. I took a quick shower and put on an old baggy t-shirt that belonged to my brother and decide to go to the kitchen and get something to eat. "I made breakfast" Lexy says as soon as I enter. "Thanks" I manage to say taking in the sight of the food. the eggs were burnt, including the sausage.  "At least I managed to cook up something" she defends. "I didn't say anything" I raise my hands in surrender and place my self on the seat next to her. I begin to eat the food trying my best possible to ignore the burnt taste and focus on getting my empty stomach filled up. "where were you yesterday?" I knew she was going to bring that up.  "I went sight seeing"  "And how come you got so drunk? and let's include the guy who brought you home" she gives me a face that looks as if she is daring me to lie. "Fine..I went to a club" a shriek from Lexy follows my confession. I grab a hold of my head. my head still hurts. "That was loud" I say and she mutters an apology. "I have always begged you to go to a club and everytime you give me the same answer..no.." "They are my colleagues" I defend.  "Right..I have forgotten I am speaking to..".... what position do you fill?"  "I am assisting..."  "I seriously don't want to know. I can't believe you never agree to go out with me and you happily went out with them most especially getting yourself drunk that a certain darling brought you back home" she rants on and on and I just sip my coffee and stare quietly at her. "I know you are mad and I am sorry but I really wanted a change. I want to try going out now, have fun and you know maybe even see a shaman" her pouts slowly turns into a smile. "That's nice. And you know I am always up for a change anytime" She says and grins"but why do you want to see a shaman?" she adds. "I believe he will have an answer to why relationship never works out for me" "You are really serious. Are you?" "of course. I am". "The only one who should know that answer is you"  "No.. that's not true" I say. "For starters, you are have always opposed the idea of a relationship. besides, I remember very well when Aaron asked you out, you said yes only for you to break up with him three weeks later" well she's right to a point. Aaron wasn't really my type and besides I don't really have a type. "Aaron and I would have never worked out even if things didn't end up that way besides he wasn't really my type" Lexy stares unbelievably at me. "Are you serious right now? HE WAS FREAKING HOT" "I didn't notice" I say giggling. "He was easily the most handsome guy of our set" she says and I shrug. To be honest Aaron is actually handsome but compared to guys have seen of lately..he is a no for me. "well that was then. And the only reason he went out with me then was because he wanted to get into my pants" "That can't be true" "yeah it is. I overheard him speaking and Caleb talking, Caleb was teasing him about the fact that he had not been able to you know..." "The word is f**k" you didn't tell me about that" Lexy whines. "If I had told you, you would have made sure Aaron never saw the light of day again"  "you are right. I would have so killed him but still you should have told me"  "I am sorry okay. That's all in the past now" I calm her down and she finally smiles. "I have a date today" She says "mind tagging along?" "A date? you met a guy?where? won't I be interrupting?" I ask all in one breath. she laughs "one question at a time baby" I met him at the ball and trust me you are not going to be interrupting anything. He's a really sweet guy" her face lightens up just by speaking about him. "That's cute. you are in love" I compliment her. "I just met him" she says throwing her hands up. "I know right but seriously I don't want to be a third wheel". if this is going to be the beginning of something real for her, I don't want to be the one spoiling it. "Alright if it's going to make you feel any better, I am going to tell him to bring his friend along and we can have a double date" she says convincing me. "I am seriously not in need of a blind date"  "let's not call it that. I am going to be there and just see it as four friends hanging out together"  "Fine. when is he picking you up?" she hugs me "I am going to send him a message now. 6pm it should be" "That's still far. What am I suppose to do till then?" this is just some minutes after 12. "Let's just chill and watch Netflix" Lexy suggest and we both flop down on the couch.
