Claire looked back, but there was nothing to be seen. Perhaps she was overthinking it.
On the way back, she felt drowsy and soon fell asleep, leaning against the car window.
But suddenly, "Bam!" There was a loud, violent impact!
Her head slammed against the glass. Pain shot through her. She clutched her head, nearly blacking out, and glanced toward the front seat, where one of the bodyguards was already unconscious.
Unable to hold on, she passed out.
"Will she die?" a voice echoed. Claire thought the voice sounded familiar, but the pain in her head, accompanied by a ringing in her ears, made it hard to focus. She forced her eyes open.
The musty, foul stench in the air made her cough a few times. The voices instantly stopped.
