CHAPTER SIX
MAYA’S POV
The first thing my eye caught was the not-so-beautiful painting on the wall. I batted my eyelashes a few times after squinting; it did help me get used to the lighting in the room.
I rested my head on the headboard and it dawned on me that I was in an unknown room. I searched my head to remember where I was last, and it didn’t take long for me to vividly remember.
The only thing I didn’t know was how I got here. I could remember being attacked by a masked figure using a sword. I placed my hand on my stomach where I was pierced with the sword, but it didn’t hurt.
“Is this heaven or hell?” I asked my wolf, but I didn’t get a response.
The room was big and quiet. The walls were painted in my favorite color and attention was paid to the drawings on some parts of the wall and the furniture as well.
Near the bed was a table with a glass of water on it. A walk-in closet stood on one side of the room, its door slightly opened so I could see neat rows of clothes inside.
Thick curtains hung by the windows that were opened, and I looked out through them. I could see the dark sky and a few tall trees outside. Hell couldn’t be this calm and beautiful.
“This isn’t the time for you to go silent on me. I might be in an enemy’s territory. I don’t know how long I’ve been in here,” I said to Aria inwardly.
I didn’t forget that my wolf wasn’t like other wolves that could speak whenever they wanted to. That was the thing about an Omega’s wolf, but I really needed her to speak.
For my stomach to have healed completely, it meant that I had been in here for the longest. I could have sworn that it was all over for me after I was attacked in the woods.
No part of my body ached and I had neat clothes on. Someone that wasn’t Alpha Damien must have made my well-being their priority, but who could it be?
I rolled the duvet off my body. I needed to take a peep out of the window; perhaps I would get an idea of where I was and who rescued me instead of leaving me to die.
“Did I just hear a weird noise?” I inquired from Aria after I suddenly paused.
I might have to stop speaking to her. Again, I didn’t get a response. If I wasn’t an Omega in the first place, I wouldn’t have found myself in here; Alpha Damien couldn’t have succeeded in killing me.
Whoever kept me in here might just be coming for me. That had to be why I heard a weird noise some seconds ago. I kept my eyes fixated on the door but wasn’t ready for what could come.
Being an Omega came with a lot of disadvantages; it meant not being able to stand up for yourself and also defend when you needed to. If a werewolf walked in and attacked me, I would be able to do nothing.
I heard noises again but this time, it wasn’t weird. It was defined and, if I were to be precise, it was approaching footsteps. My heart began to race and it became hard to stop batting my eyelashes frequently.
The door opened all of a sudden and I froze on the spot. A maid walked in and after setting her eyes on me, a smile appeared on her face. What could be the reason for her happiness? It definitely wasn’t because I regained consciousness.
I could tell she was a maid because her outfit sold her out. It was more like a uniform. I used to wear something that looked like it while I was in Alpha Damien’s pack.
Silence was ongoing. All she did was fixate her full attention on me, and in return, I did the same. My heartbeat slowly returned to its normal pace.
The least she could do at the moment was speak, perhaps tell me her name, why I was here in this room, and who brought me into the room.
“What am I…”
I had to swallow the rest of my word abruptly. She didn’t allow me finish speaking before walking out of the room. I couldn’t have offended her by opening my mouth to speak.
The door didn’t make any further cranky sound after it was slammed. It meant that it wasn’t locked from outside. I gulped loudly while I pondered on the thought that crossed my mind.
Running away sounded like the best thing to do. The moon goddess gave me a second chance by not taking my life after I was attacked. It was left for me to save my life now by running.
I walked quietly and carefully, one of my heels raised and my weight on the balls of my feet. I was headed for the door and I knew just what to do after getting to it.
“If you think I’m about to complicate issues for myself by attempting to run, you had better tell me about it,” my words to my wolf.
The five fingers of my right hand landed on the handle of the wooden door and it was time to press it down slowly. My heart decided to pick a race again at this crucial time and I could do nothing about it.
“Are you sure?” My ears caught a voice.
Without hesitating, I took my fingers off the door and motioned backwards. The door opened and not only did the maid walk in, she did with a man that was 6’4, muscular, handsome, with a soft smile and curly hair.
“Alpha Rasmus,” I muttered while trembling.
He was the Alpha that Alpha Damien made me spy on. I got caught by him and managed to escape. He would kill me. I was on the list of his pack’s offenders.
