“It’s understandable,” he eventually broke the silence.
The silence was nothing close to golden, and I was glad that he broke it. My heart had been racing ever since the silence began. I did think about breaking it, but on second thought, I realized it was a terrible idea.
I assumed he would order his men to throw me out of the mansion the next time he spoke, but he said something about the situation being understandable. I wasn’t sure I knew what he meant by that.
