The ocean slams into the cliffs, the rough yet relaxing sound rousing me from sleep. I keep my eyes closed, enjoying the serenity that surrounds me. The smell of the ocean and the plants below infiltrate my nose. I can hear the birds singing their morning song, celebrating the start of a new day. I roll over in bed, my muscles relaxed after a good night’s sleep in this bed that feels like a giant marshmallow.

I jump with a fright, pretty sure that I created space between myself and the mattress, and also pissed myself a little.
