Both travelled to the boyfriends family house. Everyone looked happy and welcomed them cheerfully. Efeoluwa felt very happy at the kind of reception she received. As soon as the boyfriend introduces her to his parents and siblings who are meeting to welcome them. The parents countenance Change immediately the boyfriend told the parents her name. All the laughter and happy moments sized immediately for a moment, The whole place became silent like a graveyard and all the happy faces turned to frowns. What could be the reason Efeoluwa asked herself as she was lost in thought. Wondering what she must have done wrong. And then a voice broke the silence sounding more like an echo bringing her back to reality. Is she Yoruba the boyfriend's father asked. ?. Yes she is, the boyfriend answered and a very intelligent girl too. The boyfriend tries to get his parents approval and interest by trying to list her potential. But the parents seemed to already have made up their minds that it's clear and suggest they don't want her. She could tell it's because of her tribe because her boyfriend is from the TIV tribe. Though both are from Same country. For the remainder of her stay with the boyfriend's family during the weekend. They all kept their distance from her. No cheerful smile came from anyone. Not even from the female siblings of her boyfriend. They all treated her like an unwanted guest. Even when she practically forced herself to be in their midst actively involving herself in chores around the house. Just so they can see her personality and not her tribe. Until the day she and the boyfriend left the family house. No one gave her a chance not even a smile, this left her worried. But she thought the boyfriend would be able to convince his family to accept her. Only for boyfriend to start distancing himself from her. He stopped calling, stopped taking her calls. The day she decided to visit her boyfriend without notice to her boyfriend. Just to see if she can solve the issue or better still know what's going on. She was blatantly refused access into the house by the boyfriend's gate guard. Which is odd cause she has never been stopped from entering the house by the gate guard. She called the boyfriend, he still didn't take her calls. She texted him and got no reply. She went home sad and heart broken. That very moment it dawned on Efeoluwa that her boyfriend's family didn't approve of them. Hence, the boyfriend decided to end the relationship. Efeoluwa had no one else to turn to but Thelma. Who sadly but happily offer her a shoulder to cry on. Sadly because it also hurts her to see Efeoluwa in such a state. Thou happy cause the obstacles in her love for Efeoluwa is gone. Efeoluwa cried so many nights she kept on asking Thelma questions why it has to be her, why the boyfriend wouldn't pick her calls. At least to give her an explanation as to why their relationship has to end. Efeoluwa wanted closure for her to move on But the boyfriend didn't give her that. So many nights she cried as Thelma cried with her. Starved with her, missed lecture with her, Thelma refused to leave her side for a minute. Thelma let her cry all she wants as that would help her heal and move on. Then she tries helping Efeoluwa pull through and out of the shadows. She became a stand up comedian just to get her to laugh, cooked her favorite meals and what not. Until one day, Efeoluwa and Thelma were lying on Thelma's bed as Thelma cuddles her from the back. Then Thelma courageously decided to say the unspoken words of her hearts. Efeoluwa why don't I be your boyfriend then, Efeoluwa turned to give Thelma a surprise look. Thelma courageously said again. Yes, if you want I can be your boyfriend like I will love you right. Why not give me a chance... Thelma said with so many thoughts and anxiety rushing through her mind for the very first time she was able to ask Efeoluwa for a relationship. When she was about to say more and openly express her feelings to her. Efeoluwa interrupt Thelma with a loud laughter. For the first time in two months Efeoluwa laughed. Thelma saw Efeoluwa laughing happily.
