Neither of us spoke on the drive back to my place. When I passed Gray’s street he didn’t say a word, though a fluttering of fear passed through me, thinking he might want to be dropped off at his place. Gray squeezed my hand, then let it go so I could pull into the parking lot of my building. When I turned the car off, I turned to him and placed my palm on the back of his neck. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, it feels…” I began, but Gray placed his index finger over my lips. “Upstairs. Now.” He whispered, then opened the car door. Moments later we were standing across from each other in the elevator.
