I reluctantly shifted my body to look behind me. Fear shook me as I realized I most likely found myself face to face with a rogue. My cheeks flushed as I realized he was also naked, but unlike me, wasn't trying to hide it. I brought my knees up against my chest, trying to hide my body a bit more from him. I couldn't stop my gaze from devouring every inch of his godly body. His body was enveloped in muscle. He was almost as beat up as I was and I overcome with pity for a split second as I looked at scars most likely created by wolf's bane or silver. I lifted my eyes to his face and noticed him raise an eyebrow as I scanned his body. A deep cut went from his forehead to his cheek and was surrounded by dried blood. His sculpted chin was covered in stubble as black as his long wavy locks. I finally met his eyes which to my surprise weren't red like the usual rogues. Instead, the bloodshot eyes were replaced by deep blue eyes as violent as an ocean. I felt as though I could drown in them.
Holy Goddess, he's hot.
I was so lost in him that I hadn't notice my wolf open the doors between us.
"This is not the time! We're about to be torn to shreds, Summer!" I scolded my wolf.
He will not harm us, Bea.
Her weak voice confidently replied. I focused on the stranger once more.
"W-who are you?" My voice quivered. "Are y-you a rogue?"
He was observing my body as well at this point. I tightened my arms around my legs.
"My name is Xavier."
I recognized the voice to be the same as before, when his smell stopped me in my tracks early this evening. "Now we don't have time to waste. Accept you mates rejection."
The demand struck me like lighting.
"How do you know?"
I asked him, wide eyed.
"I smell it. Just do as I say! Everything will make sense soon."
I didn't fully believe him, considering I had no idea what a rogue was capable of. Despite all the abuse Kyle made me go through, I wasn't ready to let my mate go. I felt Summer get pissy.
It's time we let him go.
I was surprised to see Summer's acceptance after a stranger's demand, considering she was in more pain from the rejection than I ever was. Maybe I should... but he will be mad.
" I can't" I answered. "He will get mad at me.."
I was scared of this man but I was more frightened of my own mate. His lips twisted into a side grin.
"I'm counting on it. When he comes, we need to lure him in this cage. When we do, we will run."
Somehow I trusted this stranger, and the thought of freedom made butterflies dance in my stomach.
"Now, don't do or say anything after accepting his rejection."
I felt my body shake in anticipation and fear as I hesitantly said.
"I, Beatrix Woods, accept Kyle Harper's rejection."
I felt our link split and one automatically form to Xavier. I stood up in shock as I looked at him. I couldn't move. Summer purred.
I told you he wouldn't hurt us.
He also got up and looked at my exposed body with lustful eyes. I flinch at his stare and can't help but blush before hurriedly covering my breasts. Xaviers eyes looked into mine with an unknown warmth for a second before partially shifting, digging his claws into his own back and smearing his blood onto my hands before laying on his side, his back facing the cage door. I looked at his self inflicted gashes going from his lower back up to his strong shoulders. Soon after, Kyle quickly unlocked the door and tore it open.
"What did you do!!??"
He yelled. My mouth opened and closed as though I was a fish out of water. I looked down at my bloody hands and took a step back. He approached Xavier's body to investigate before he turned to me. He raised his hand but before he could hit me Xavier had quietly yet swiftly gotten up and knocked Kyle down to the ground, knocking him out after throwing a few punches. Before I could say anything, he grabbed Kyle's neck and whispered.
"You will never hurt her again, Alpha."
And he broke his neck. The crack echoed as I fell to my knees in shock. Tears threatened to escape my eyes. Xavier grabbed my arm and I felt sparks between us. He bolted to the second exit further in the corridor, probably hoping to not get caught by guards. I found myself dragged behind a man I didn't know, a man who was my second chance mate.
