"Do you ever wonder what it's like outside the wall?" the silver-eyed healer asked Sashta while she's cleaning her sword, she paused for a while and gaze outside. The moon shines brightly, giving light even in the darkest part of the forest. The field stretch endlessly like the world never ends.
"The world beyond this wall is not so different in here. Evil roams day and night, greed and selfishness have spread across the land. To die is a sign of weakness and to kill is a way to survive, if you think this place is worst, beyond this is unimaginable"
Sashta said bitterly while remembering the awful memories she had outside the wall. The pain she endures, the humiliation, and how they strip her innocence are a nightmare that she can't escape.
"You still remember didn't you?" her eyes widened when she realized what she has done. The council made sure to remove every memory they have outside the wall. That is why Rico couldn't remember what's his life before this.
She tightened her grip on her sword, they must not know what she is and what she's capable of.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anybody I swear it to the Styx river" Rico smiled at her, though she's not sure if he can be trusted but to swear into the Styx river is something that they can't break.
"Rico, don't die on me. Open your eyes, I swear to the gods if you won't fight and I'll follow you to the underworld and feed you to Cerberus" he had lost a lot of blood when Sashta found Rico lying in the forest.
He tried to venture outside the wall when the rouges attacked him, he used his remaining mana to escape, which is when Sashta found him.
"I can't make it Sashta but at least I'll die happy, I get to see a glimpse of life beyond the wall and you're right Sash, it's not what I expect it to be" Sashta had lost a lot of friends along the way, some died on her own hands and some died protecting her.
"I won't allow you, Rico, you will not die today. Not on my watch" Rico's eyes widened when a blinding light surround both him and Sashta.
"Nutu Magistri Se Compelle", an ancient spell for transferring a necromancer's mana to a specific target. This requires a great amount of power to work, Rico gaped at the girl in front of her. Necromancer is very rare in their time, because of the power they hold, the council made sure to kill every last one of them.
A burning pain cut through his entire body, making him stifle a cry. The sliced wound from the rouge's attack slowly stitches back together leaving an ugly mark on his skin.
"No one should know about this Rico. If they find out that you venture outside the wall they'll have your head hang at the gate. And if you tell a single soul about what happened today, I'll feed you to the beast myself. Do you understand?'" Rico groans but still manages to nod his head.
"Promise me Rico" Rico looked at Sashta's eyes before saying
"I promise it to the Styx River"
That is what she is, a necromancer. She communicates with the dead and could be able to manipulate every living soul. She could feel a person's emotion even from far away, the vibration of their heartbeats that connects to the earth making a perfect rhythm of life and death.
A big black wolf is running towards her, it's like a shadow lurking in the darkness. Its raw desire to kill and vengeance slice through the night, making her shiver from anticipation and excitement.
She was not expecting what happened next, she could feel the twenty wolves few miles away but only one.
Before she knew it, a strong force had made her go flying and hit the nearest tree. She knows for sure that the impact broke her ribs, she managed to heal herself before she was picked from the ground and was thrown into the ground making a loud thud.
Sashta lost her veil in the process, before she could even have the time to process, strong arms encircled around her throat-cutting the oxygen supply into her lungs.
"Enervare", a surge of power flows through her vein, seeping into her pores and renewing her energy. She could feel her broken ribs healing and the cuts in his body to close. With newfound strength, she crushed the man's arm and twisted her body. She feels weird when her skin made contact with the wolfman.
Without a second thought, she used her other arm to hit the man's jugular that caused him to stumble backward.
When her adrenaline settled down and she could hear the vibration of the earth again, her entire senses becomes twice as sensitive as normal.
An astounding smell of roses and the fresh scent of the forest made their way to her system making her shiver. The smell is so familiar, bringing back the memory of when she first encounter this scent 5 years ago.
She looks around until her eyes meet with the blue-eyed man that looks stunned upon looking at her.
Maybe because she doesn't have her veil and she looks hideous? It's not like this man haven't seen some woman in his life, with his built and wonderful smell she could surely -
Her thoughts were cut off when she realized where the smell is coming from
"Mate", The man whispered the word that Sashta fears so much.
Timothy
I stand frozen while still clutching my neck from the recent attack. The pain was now long forgotten as my heart wildly beat in my chest. My wolf howl wanting to get out and tackle the person in front of us and claim her ours. Her scent was masked earlier and when he managed to weaken her the protective barrier crumbles down and exposing her sweet and addicting sweet. The smell of honey and lavender, when the flowers started to bloom during spring.
He stares at her, wide eyes, and couldn't believe what just happen. Her pale skin glows under the moon's blissfully light, it's like the moon goddess had sculpted her herself. The way her black hair shines making her beautiful face looks ethereal under the moonlight. Brown eyes stared at him, it tugged his heart even more.
"Mate". When the word left his mouth, he knows that everything will change. He stared at her, something flashed through her eyes. Isn't she happy that she found him? Mates are supposed to be inseparable when they meet each other. But why can he see indifference in her eyes?
When Timothy managed to get himself together, she backed away and ready herself to fight. He raised his arms as a sign of surrender.
"Alpha what's going on? What are you doing?" He could hear Damien in his mind. They were just waiting for his command.
"Don't do anything unless I say so. No one will harm her. She's my mate" He could hear Damien's gasp before he put up his wall and look at his beautiful mate.
"I won't harm you". The pull is getting stronger as her presence is just an arm reached from him. He knows that she could feel it too, the way her breathing hitched. How he wished that she won't fight the connection that they have.
"Too bad, I did not come here for that" It happens so fast, she managed to tackle him to the ground. Timothy could feel the blade in his neck.
"ALPHA" He could hear his warriors and Damien, ready to fight and risk it all but he told them to stop.
He could feel the knife cutting through his skin but he doesn't fight or do anything.
" I know that you could feel it too'. Timothy touched her hands that held the knife. Her gripped weakened giving Timothy the chance to flip her over.
Her eyes widened as she tries to squirm and escape from his hold. But he won't be letting her go anytime soon.
"Stop I won't hurt you" Timothy growl, his wolf howls in his head seeing his mate under this position.
"Let me go dog" He tightened his hold on her, she might be his mate but he is still an alpha, he doesn't tolerate the disrespect.
"Don't you dare call me that. You might be my mate, I might not hurt you in a way that you know but I can make you cry in a way that I can" he smirked when she stopped fighting him.
"Are you the assassin that the council had sent to assassinate my pack?" She looked at his eyes directly. Her beautiful eyes show no emotion, it looks empty.
"Why are you doing this?" Timothy looked at his mate, hoping that she would answer him.
"I'll see you again. Mate...Evanescet" And just like that, she disappears in a cloud of black smoke.
"ALPHA"
