Chapter 14

"F-father..." the word slipped out of Odin before he could stop it. Three men flank his father at the entrance and he recognized them from the investigation team. Almost immediately, his father's eyes narrowed angrily. "Have your perfect memory failed you, boy? You are not worthy to call me that." Odin immediately clamped his mouth shut at his father's words; immediately remembering why his father refused to have him call him that. "I apologize, sir." He apologized while schooling his features back to its impassive state. "An apology again! You've had nothing but apology to offer me for the past decades! You kept on disappointing me and I've had enough with your bullshit! Even the simple task of finding a mate and producing an heir is something you couldn't do. You can't even lead the pack to its finesy glory and you've even endangered our company! It seems like you're even doing this on purpose!" His father roared angrily at him as everyone steered clear from the former alpha's wrath. "Sir, it is not my intention to-" Odin started to explain but he was cut off with his father's harsh words. "Leave this company and the pack this instance!" Odin was shocked. Sure, his father did try to kick him out of the pack for years but he had never said it in a clear command. As a former alpha and Odin's father, he's still higher in rank than Odin and it is within a werewolf's nature to submit to their elder. Still, Odin couldn't just leave. Straightening himself and gathering all the courage he could muster, he faced his father head on. "No, sir." Gasps echoed at his words. Going against someone older is considered disrespectful and taboo in werewolf culture. It is also one of the reason's why many packs turned their backs on Odin and his pack when he cut ties with the council and Clawed Elders. It is also the very reason why it was so easy for others to side with the council and turned a blind eye to Odin's plausible reasons of cutting off the council and elders. And now, Odin made it worse by also defying his own father. That, besides disrespecting the Clawed Elders, is considered a high offense. At the moment, Odin chose such measures than his father's demands. He understands his father's hate for him, but at the very moment, his father's feelings is not that important compared to the problems at hand. "I am not asking." His father gritted out dangerously. He could sense his father's wolf surge forward; ready to bring him to submission. Their silvery-gray eyes turned a darker shade; a clear indication of their fury. "Nor am I doing the same. I'm not leaving the pack and company and that's final." Odin stated firmly, squaring himself in preparation of any impending attack. He opened his mind to his wolf to get ready but was shocked when he couldn't sense him. 'Where is he?' He wondered, calling him once again but got no response. He couldn't even feel his presence! What the hell?! Where did he go? He searched his mind for him. He put all his mental and spiritual strength and energy to summon him, but failed. What the hell? Just then, he remembered his dream. He remembered how his wolf reacted towards the goddess and the goddess' touch that gave him a searing headache. After that, he never felt his wolf's presence again. It's only then that realization dawned on Odin. 'Please don't tell me she killed my wolf...' he thought in despair. Fear filled his heart and snaked through his mind. The idea of his wolf dying inside him and being wolf-less scares him more than anything in existence. It's ok if he loses everything, but not his wolf. Never his wolf! His other half, his other part of his soul, the very being who is constantly with him through thick and thin, the only being who accepts and love him even when Odin himself couldn't find a reason to keep on loving himself, the same wolf he's so in tuned with, the very aspect of his being he never wants to part...the goddess wouldn't be so cruel to part them, would she? He racked his mind for any sign or clue that he might be alive. He remembers the excruciating pain at the goddess' touch but he didn't feel his wolf dying. How would he know, anyway? He never had his wolf die before. Who knows if that pain was the indication that his wolf did die? But then again, it's different from the feeling of someone dying. He had pack members who died before. He knows that searing pain, like potent silver, cutting through their spiritual bond. Having a pack member die feels like being cut from limb to limb, while at the same time, being burned. Odin knows that the feeling is an internal torture that affects his whole body. A werewolf's bond to his/her wolf is far stronger than a pack bond, so if a wolf died within a werewolf, the pain would be far worse than losing a pack member. It's the same "worse" as losing a mate that usually results in dying, going insane, or permanently emotionally, spiritually, and mentally dead. Odin found hope at his analyzations. He doesn't know where his wolf is or what happened to him, but he has faith that he's alive. And if ever his wolf is in trouble, well...good luck to whoever his opponent will be. His wolf has been blood thirsty for decades. Whoever dares to mess with him will end up as a ravaged chew toy. With that conclusion, he let out a silent sigh as he faced off with his father who's sizing him up. "You dare go against me, pup?" His father's voice took a dark, dangerous tone. If Odin has doubts that this encounter will lead to a messy, physical confrontation, he has none now. "Yes." A furious growl answered him and the members and employees steered clear from them as tension and aggression roll off from both of them. Already, his father is getting ready in preparation for a shift. His claws have gone out and Odin could see a peek of canines from his father's angry sneer. "You're really pushing your luck." His father snapped at him; showcasing his arsenals of war. "Are you not going to ask why? You're so quick to get riled up without full facts. As an alpha, self restraint should be practiced all the time. One slip of emotion and our enemies will use it against us. You know that, don't you? After all, you taught me that." Odin challenged. He's trying to talk it out with his father because if tensions continue to rise, one way or another, such dilemma will lead to a battle of dominance. Not only will it be dangerous, it will also be very risky because their pack members and employees might get hurt in the process. Besides that, it's also a waste of time. Odin has a lot of problems in his plate and he can't have his problems with his father add up to that. Also, if it does end up in a fight, Odin would surely lose. His father is still in his prime - at his utmost physical best. Add the fact that his father also has his wolf, an aspect Odin currently doesn't have, the fight will be unfair because his father would have a very good advantage. While there's not much advantage or disadvantage a werewolf has in his human form or not, it will be an unfair fight if a werewolf is to fight another who doesn't have a wolf or currently has his/her wolf suppressed. Having a wolf in a fight means the werewolf has the strength of two werewolves. On the other hand, a werewolf fighting with a suppressed wolf or no wolf at all will only have the strength of one werewolf. If both sides fight, it would be an unfair one. So as much as possible, Odin is trying to work things out by trying to reason with his father. Any other course of action might lead to a disaster. "Throwing my teachings back at me won't change my mind, boy." His father growled. "It won't but it will make you a hypocrite if you yourself don't follow your own teachings." Another tense silence followed. Odin knows the impact of his words to everyone around him. Besides disrespect, hypocrisy is also one of the werewolf culture's high offense - especially if it is done by a high ranking wolf. If his father continues, the pack will turn against him even though he's not in position anymore. Having the whole pack turn against a high ranking wolf is the most painful and indomitable punishment of all. No wolf ever survived it. His father bared his fangs at him in anger, but from his expression; Odin knows that it at least settled him down from his aggression. "You're no saint yourself. How dare you act like you're better when you are actually mated to the hellhound?!" Odin's eyes widened at his father's words. His heart pounded when gasps echoed around him and disbelief filled the room. How did he know that? Did the council tell him? f**k! "Who told you? And where are their proofs?" He asked - his voice shaky. "Do you really think I wouldn't know what's going on in my pack? Much less my own company? You may be the alpha and CEO now but all of them still belongs to me." His father replied darkly. "What do yo-" immediately, it all clicked with Odin. When he defeated his father for the position as CEO and Alpha 50 years ago, he remembered gaining the position but not the actual title of ownership of the pack and company. When he asked his father for it, his father's answer was that Odin should prove himself worthy first before taking full ownership. As the years went by, Odin's mind got too occupied with the pack, the company, the problems with the council and elders, and with finding his mate that the matter got shoved so far in his mind he nearly forgot it. And now, as his mind blurs with past events, he understood how he got into this very situation. It's no wonder the pack and employees could easily turn their back on him because ultimately, his father is still the owner - he's still their leader - and Odin is just the fraud that they are just tolerating for the balance of their species. As if that's not enough, their loyalty is also with his father. Odin remembered what happened on Wednesday. When the investigation team set out to investigate, he remembered at least three men go down the building to gather data from the other employees and also to access the security footages. They didn't come up when Odin had to knock everyone out and tamper their memories. They were also not present when he woke up from his dream. But now, he remembered seeing them clearly when his father arrived. That means... His face fell at the realization. Of course they ratted him out. And if they did access the security footages, that also means they had seen everything from his encounter with the hellhound up to the last act. f**k! He's screwed! "Don't even bother denying it. I saw everything with my own eyes. Lying will get you nowhere." His father sports a hateful expression and that broke Odin's heart even more. "It's not what it l-" "Which part of the records show that it is not what it looks like? There's only one wolf who is 7 ft. in height and can get anywhere undetected. That same bastard was seen kissing with you and it was clear you were kissing him back! As if you being an utter failure and disappointment isn't enough, you had to be mated to that scum and had to be f*****g gay!" "I'M NOT GAY!" Odin roared out; his voice nearly shattering all the glass on the floor. "I don't want him and I never will! This is all a huge misunderstanding!" Odin pleaded; no longer caring about his alpha pride. Clearing his name matters more than pride at the moment. "Lies! Why then would you kiss him back?! And explain this!" His father roared as equally loud, took out his phone, clicked a few times, then tossed it to him. Odin caught it easily and flipped it so he can look at what his father is trying to show him. His heart literally stopped upon seeing the footage. There he is, on a mating position with his hands and knees on the ground, ass in the air, legs spread, and the hellhound mounted on top of him. There was no question that it was him because besides the hellhound, he's the tallest and largest male wolf in the world. His silver-gray eyes are even prominent in the footage along with his features. What's worse? It is clear in the footage that he and the hellhound are trying to mate. His leaking hole, which he is still confused about, is clear along with the hellhound's massive member sliding across it and making loud and sloppy thumping sounds. As if those aren't enough, his moans, grunts, and groans can be clearly heard along with the hellhound's and the phone is even at full volume! From the tense silence of the place, the volume of the video feels like it's blaring through speakers. Odin's hand shook so hard in utter disbelief and shame until the phone slipped out of his hand. Just as the phone hit the carpeted floor, his recorded yell of ecstasy echoed around the place. Odin is trembling. His mind had blanked out and every part of him is trying to shut down. Only one question keeps circling his mind. How? How did he know? How did anyone know? How did it reach him? "There's no way out for you this time. You used up your last straw and you even went beyond that when you tampered with their memories." His father's words made him flinch. But what hurts to see even more for him is the betrayed looks of his pack and employees. "Alpha Odin...please don't tell us that it is true - that you didn't do it. You didn't do it, right...alpha?" His secretary hesitantly asked him. She's one of the few people that still cared and respected him and look at what he's done. He betrayed them. "I'm sorry." He barely heard himself but due to the tense silence, they all heard it. Immediately, the place became chaotic. Enraged cries and accusations came at him. "How dare you do that?!" "You traitor!" "f*****g worthless leader!" "You're no leader of ours! You should've died instead of your brother!" He flinched at that. "Unbelievable!" "The f*****g nerve!" "This is abuse of position! Kill him!" "You should've died!" "We shouldn't have tried to bring you back!" As more hurtful words flung at him, Odin still stayed and accepted all their anger and reactions. He deserves it. He was selfish. He was so engrossed on saving himself that he betrayed his own subjects. He broke their trust and even meddled with something he shouldn't. He deserves all of this. Things started to get thrown at him. Books, pens, pen holders, shoes, surgical knives, bottles, pots, and many more got hurled towards him. He stayed still and took it all even when they started to injure him and open up his past injuries - the same injuries that reminds him of his tryst with the hellhound and the very same ones that testifies his shame. Blood started to trickle down his body as more things got thrown at him. Some are even heavy enough to whip his head to the side and cause him to nearly collapse. Still, he persevered. Because of this, his pack and employees got bolder and started approaching him. It wasn't long before claws and fangs started wounding him too. It's not as deep and harmful as most attacks because even though his pack is angry at him, their wolves will still bow to him and would refuse to hurt him too much because of the fear of greater punishments once Odin retaliates. Still, Odin didn't defend himself. Amidst all the chaos and anger, he caught his father's stormy eyes. For a split second, Odin swore he saw pity flash through his father's eyes but he couldn't be sure. It might just be his imagination or a hallucination caused by near blood loss. His heart started to slow its beating; finally accepting their fate. Odin knows that as this progresses on, his pack will get bolder and bolder until eventually, the injuries and wounds he obtained will cause his death. Odin knows that and yet, he lets them. After all, maybe he should've really died. He's been useless lately and had caused the pack more problems than good things. Maybe he really should've died. At that, his thoughts started to get blurry and his body started to weaken. His past injuries, the mental torture, and the current onslaught of pain and damage he's currently going through started catching up to him. If this is his time to bid farewell, he'll gladly accept it. He'd rather die on the hands of his pack or someone he knew than someone else. At least he'll be leaving seeing a familiar face. He'll miss Decker though and his annoying son. He'll also miss running through the forest. He'll probably miss his office too even though he often destroys it in his tantrums. He'll probably miss his stressballs the most. And...yeah, he'll probably miss insulting the hellhound too. He'll also miss his pack an- A thought suddenly occurred to him. He remembered when he met the hellhound - how he was about to kill Decker. That time, he was in Odin's territory and about to kill someone. His pack is one of the biggest packs in the world. The hellhound is notorious for wiping out five of the biggest packs of the world and probably counting. When he met the hellhound, could it be that the hellhound was targeting his pack? And if Odin wasn't mated to the hellhound, could he have been dead too along with his pack? The hellhound had succeeded in infiltrating the pack before and even the company. He has ample time to gather enough information about them and even assassinate them. Then, why didn't he? Could it be because he's Odin's mate? At that realization, Odin found a reason to keep going. His eyes opened and blazed bright silver and yanked himself away from his pack members' grasps. Shouts, growls, and the sound of pursuit followed him as he ran through the broken wolf eye. And just like his mate, he took his escape by jumping out the window. ********************************************** AN: OMG S&R had reached 3k views!!!
