Chapter 4

Odin cursed as he hung upside down from the huge tree branch a few feet from the house he woke up in. His hands are flailing helplessly in the air and he's still too weak to use his upper body strength to pull himself up and dislodge his stuck feet. How he got in this irritating situation? Better ask the f*****g hellhound because Odin is fuming just thinking about it.       “Aaaahh...that can’t be good for you.” Odin glared at the hellhound’s annoying smirk thrown his way along with his amused words.       “I’m not going down alone in this, bastard. You’re going down with me.” He growled at the golden-eyed wolf.       “I’d rather go down on you.” The smirk got wider. “Take it or leave it?”       “Kill it.” Was Odin’s reply.       This made the hellhound chuckle. “Not in the choices, love. Pick again.”       “First, f**k off. Second, stay the f**k away. Third, go die.” Odin growled as he peered outside the house and saw at least two dozen enforcers advancing. Some are already trying to surround the area. Odin cursed; his best hope of escaping is through the back door and run sideways after a few feet in order to get them off his tracks. He hates fleeing. It’s against his nature as an alpha but he’s at a huge disadvantage here. He’s still not fully healed and he’s got a f*****g b***r that refuses to go down. It’s going to be a huge pain in the f*****g ass to run with a hard b***r.        “Typical Whurr alpha.” He heard the hellhound muse and the way he said it sounds so condescending and degrading that Odin whirled around to throw a punch at him. Instead, something caught on his foot, making him lose balance and instead clumsily fell on the ground. The hellhound’s chuckle made him feel so embarrassed as the wound on his thigh flare in pain.       “f**k off!” he screamed at him just as gunshots began to rain all over house. Despite his embarrassment, he managed to be thankful because if he was standing a second earlier, he would’ve been a polka-dotted body now.       “My house! My precious house!” the guy from earlier cried out as he was forced to crouch down to shield himself from the rain of bullets. A bullet caught the hellhound on the shoulder but he only calmly crouched down to avoid them as if the bullet is not made out of silver.       “Hmmmm...they’re really serious in killing us, huh?” he had the nerve to muse as if they’re not in a life or death situation.       “Your mucus brain finally caught up?!” Odin yelled sarcastically as he crawls his way towards the back door. He doesn’t know why the hellhound is hiding from the enforcers instead of killing them since he has that kind of reputation. But who knows, maybe the “killing 5 of the biggest packs in the world by himself” is only a big lie the rogues made to make them seem more dangerous.  It turns out it’s only probably a fraud.       Snatching a pair of shoes from the ground along with some papers littered around, he carefully opened the back door; crouching down again as the bullets started focus on him. “f**k this!” he growled before hastily opening it then shutting it loudly. He tapped the shoes on the papers to create the illusion that he’s out there running as the papers rustle like leaves being crunched underneath someone’s shoe. It sounds different but in a chaotic scene as this one, it did the trick as the enforcers yelled at each other that they escaped through the backdoor.       Footsteps started to make way around the house and to the back but five remained outside. “What if it’s a diversion?” Odin heard one of them ask to his colleagues.     "It could be. After all, we’re after two powerful and intelligent beings here.”       “Just two? What the f**k?!” the guy who healed him mouthed to him as Odin caught his eye from his hiding place. He can’t help but roll his eyes.       “I wouldn’t doubt that they will do any trick to fool us just so they could escape. We have to tread carefully.” The leader continued.       “What if they fight back? They’re alphas. The most powerful ones at that.” Another pointed out.       “Even strength has to bow down to intelligence sometimes.” The leader replied as Odin scoffed. ‘Not if you have both.’       “So you’re going to trick them?” this time, the leader did not reply and Odin acknowledged that at least that wolf has some sort of brain. If he answered that question, he’ll be giving away his plan especially since most of them are shifters here.       Footsteps started to approach. Odin could smell the stinging scent of silver and wolfs bane in their weapons and he knew he has to be very careful. Silently crawling towards the upturned couch, he tried to look around as best as he could for a good hiding place to ambush them through the dark. He saw the healer guy fuming and cursing the enforcers silently in the corner but he did not see the hellhound.       His attention fell back to the enforcers when the door opened. Their guns and tranquilizer darts are at a ready and they immediately spread out upon entering with their backs facing each other. It’s a good offense-defense strategy, Odin will give them that but that also means it will be harder for him to get close. s**t!       A hand suddenly wrapped around his waist and another one covered his mouth as he started to growl. “Sssshhhh...” came the hellhound’s airy voice. It’s so light and barely audible; making Odin feel like the air itself whispered to him but the sparks dancing across his skin made him confirm that it is indeed the hellhound. How did he sneak up on him without any indication? He doesn’t know.       Odin’s growl died down as he was pulled upwards. He started to struggle, angry and panicking that the hellhound will give away their location but the hellhound merely stepped back and they got encased in darkness. Odin sucked in a deep breath as sparks tingled across his skin and shot down towards his groin. His b***r gave a hard throb; making him groan and that made the hellhound clamp a hand over his mouth. “Unless you want to get caught, sugarcakes, I suggest you stay quiet. The enforcers are not the only problem here.”       ‘Damn right!’ Odin thought; feeling the hellhound’s massive erection digging itself on the crack of his ass. He wants to get out of his embrace because his control over his wolf is waning. Any longer pressed against the hellhound’s b***r and Odin will lose his mind.       An enforcer tilted his head towards their direction and Odin thought they’re screwed but thankfully he looked away. He breathed out a sigh of relief but his perceptiveness caught on. All enforcers and members of the council are supernaturals and they all have good eyesight despite being in the dark. That enforcer should’ve seen them immediately seeing as they’re standing at plain sight in the dark. So how come he didn’t see them?       Odin’s mind flashed to his previous encounters with the hellhound and he’s always in the shadows, like it’s a part of him or it always embraces him – as cliché as that sounds. He tried to remember any vision he has of the hellhound without the shadows but he came up none. That’s odd. Even with Odin’s photographic memory, there has to have at least a tiny hint of the hellhound without the shadows right? But there’s none.       Could this be the reason why he managed to kill five of the biggest packs of the world all by himself, using the shadows to his advantage? It is possible. After all, the best way to eliminate anyone is to catch them off guard. Using the shadows to his advantage can do just that. And to think that he managed to enter Odin’s pack without anyone noticing...crap! He really needs to eliminate this guy. He’s too strong and he has too much advantage. He’s dangerous. He can’t be left alive!       Making up his mind, Odin started out his plan. “Get that b***r out of my ass, you fucktard!” he growled as lowly as he could.       “Why should I take it away from your delectable ass, mamon? Unless you could take that ass away from me then no problem.”       “Then let go, you asshole!”       “If you can break out of my hold then please do.” The amusement in the hellhound’s voice just made Odin’s blood boil hotter and his determination stronger.       He struggled, pushing the hellhound’s arm away from his waist but it felt like moving a mountain – impossible. 'What the f**k?!' Odin thought angrily, flailing his arms and legs and even biting and clawing at the hellhound’s arm to escape but it stayed firm and unmoving. “Let go!” he growled at his captor. “As soon as you free yourself,” was the hellhound’s reply.       “You just don’t want to let go of me, do you? For some reason you want me near you, you f*****g gay!” he growled, looking back at the hellhound only to freeze upon seeing that fiery glow in those golden eyes of his.       “You’re my mate.” His words dreaded Odin. Since scenting his mate during his battle with the hunters, he was both overjoyed and nervous at the same time. Overjoyed because finally, after 50 years of searching, loneliness, discrimination, pain, doubt, and self-pity; he finally found her! But still, he’s nervous because he only scented her scent during the battle with the hunters. This means, she could be a hunter; the same type of humans who kill their kind for sport and greed despite the fact that both species are already co-existing peacefully. But when he eliminated the hunters and the area and found out that his mate wasn’t there, it gave him hope so he followed her scent towards South. But as he was running in his wolf form and his mind clearing away from the instinct to protect and kill, it is only then that he slowly realized that the scent of his mate is masculine and not feminine. When he caught a glimpse of a male ready to swipe at his beta and his wolf yipping happily at the sight of that male, Odin’s world came crashing down. The rest was history and even until now, Odin is still in denial.       He’s still hoping that maybe one of the hunters had hit his head harder than he thought and that made his mind hallucinate into thinking that the hellhound is their mate. But hearing the hellhound confirm it for the second time...Odin can’t-he can’t believe...it’s not possible. He can’t accept that! He can never accept it! His life is over! How can he continue to lead the pack with a male as a mate? How can he accept the hellhound as a mate? How can he accept to be mated to another alpha, a rogue and criminal at that?! It won’t be balanced anymore and it will only cause disaster! His pack doesn’t deserve any more problems! They’ve already had enough of it in the past and Odin can’t let things go on any longer. How could the goddess do this to him? How could she pair him with a male? Will a male be able to produce him an heir, an offspring? Can a male become a motherly figure to the pack? Can the hellhound even be a good person? Good enough to fit in with the pack and not killing or hurting them? Can a male calm him down and bring him back to his senses when he loses his cool? Can the hellhound unite the pack? Will the hellhound even care to help him lead the pack to a brighter future?! Will he? For goddess’ sake he won’t! He’s the hellhound! A murder, a psychopath! And most of all, a rogue! Rogues hate packs! They kill and destroy packs, not help improve it! Screw this!       What wrong did he ever do to deserve such treatment?!       “YOU’RE NOT MY MATE!!” Odin snarled at the hellhound’s face that made the hellhound’s eyes narrow angrily at him. Normally it would alarm Odin since the hellhound has this frightening aura around him but this time, he’s too far gone in his anger. All his anger and resentment for the past 50 years that stayed buried as they could get had now escaped. In that outburst, both side failed to notice one of the enforcers sneaking away.       “Why? Because we rogues are not good enough for you perfect pack wolves?” the venom in the hellhound’s voice made him shiver but that didn’t stop him.       “Yes! And I refuse to be mated to the worst of them all and that’s you!” he snarled, completely forgetting that they have audience.       “Can you guys please keep it down? I don’t want to be part of the enforcers’ circus ok? I would really appreciate it if you continue your quarrelling after those stinky dogs are gone.” the guy from earlier spoke as he crawled towards the darkness surrounding the hellhound. This got the enforcers’ attention and they started advancing on them.       “You fool!” the hellhound growled angrily, making them both cower at the promise of death expressed from his tone. “You know you’re not in my power yet and you have to f*****g open your mouth and get us caught!”       “I-I-I’m s-s-s-so-r-rry a-alpha” the guys stuttered as he bowed so low on the ground; clutching at the hellhound’s leg and begging for forgiveness.       The sight brought Odin from his frightened stupor and took his control back on his anger. “Hey y-“ he started but he was cut off by the hellhound kicking the male harshly; making him fly to the other side of the house. “Distract them.” he ordered and that made the male nod and yell at the enforcers to catch him. They went after him just a step away from entering into the hellhound’s vicinity of shadows.       For the first time ever, Odin realized how badly the hellhound’s body is vibrating. From the tight hold he has on Odin, he realized that the hellhound was restraining himself. Why? He doesn’t know. But it shows from the fact that the hellhound chose to hide than to kill as expected from a deranged rogue like him. Before he could ponder more about it, the hellhound puts him back down on the ground, snatched his wrist, and pulled him along as they made a dash towards the front of the house to make their escape.       The afternoon light greeted them as they stepped out and it casted an ethereal glow at the sudden exposure of the hellhound’s physique. Odin’s heart thundered in his chest as he sees his mate for the first time without the shadows. His silky, slightly curly, and shiny midnight black hair flowed through the wind as they run. Even with his back turned, Odin could make out just how handsome he is from the glimpses he gets. He has a sturdy, thick neck that makes the urge to claim him spike up again. There are some inscriptions on his nape that Odin couldn’t understand despite knowing and fluent in every language in the whole world. Tattoos cover his entire back and arms with intricate and seemingly ancient patterns. The design is so abstract, so confusing and at times, even an illusion. There are some of his tattoos that look like a roaring dragon whenever his left back muscle tense but when it relaxes, it becomes a face of a rabid wolf instead. There are also inscriptions on his tattoos that are camouflaged so impressively that it can only be seen if stared intensely. There are a few patches of bare skin on his back and arms and that made him look even more attractive.       Both of Odin’s heart and c**k let out a hard throb at that and it made him angrier. He’s so angry at himself for being attracted to him. Damn this mate bond!       They both stopped when Odin wrenched his wrist out of the hellhound’s grasp. The hellhound sighed in irritation before turning around to face him. “What now?”       For a whole 5 seconds, Odin forgot how to breathe. How can a criminal be so handsome while looking irritated? The hellhound looks like the most handsome and ripped Greek or Roman god. With perfect-looking, silky, midnight black hair that still looks hot while in a disarray, perfectly shaped, sharp features, blazing golden-yellow eyes, perfectly arched and thick manly eyebrows, moderately crooked nose that suits his face so well despite the clear fact that it’s probably crooked because of many fights, manly full lips, high cheekbones, a slight stubble, a vertical scar from his left cheekbone that ends an inch above his jaw, another scar slashed across his right eyebrow, think neck and an Adam’s apple that looks so delectable, toned, muscular body that is littered with tattoos but still have some patches of bare skin, eight packs abs, and holy s**t how huge is that thing?!       Odin hates himself for the audacity of his body to be turned on by a man. This is so wrong yet why does his body and wolf strongly believe that it’s right?! This is not f*****g fair!       “I told you not to f*****g touch me!” he growled at the hellhound and this made him growl.       “And why the hell not?! You’re my mate! I have every right to touch you!”       “No you don’t because you’re not my mate!”       “You’re just in denial. Look, I understand this is not ideal-“       “I don’t care! I don’t want you as my mate and I refuse to be your mate!”       The hellhound’s eyes blazed with danger once again and Odin struggled to keep his composure. He can’t back out now that he’s started. “You’re a rogue, a murderer and a criminal. I can’t be mated to you. The goddess made a mistake,” the hellhound scoffed at that. “I don’t care whatever the consequences are but I don’t want you and I never will! I’m an alpha. My pack and my bloodline will end with you as my mate and I won’t let it happen.”       “So what? That’s it? Because I’m a male, you’ll reject me like that?” Odin could sense a slight tremble in the hellhound’s tone but he’s not sure if it’s real or he just imagined it. Nonetheless, it makes his heart ache saying and doing this to him...to his mate. Even his wolf is against him. He’s thrashing, banging and clawing at the cage Odin created in his mind to contain him and now, the refusal from his wolf to reject their mate is giving him a headache. “That’s a low reason and you know that.” The hellhound growled, advancing towards him. Almost automatically, Odin took a step back before realizing his mistake. He cursed upon seeing the smug look on the hellhound’s face.       “As I said, I don’t care.” Odin replied, righting himself and meeting the hellhound’s eyes head on with his silvery-gray ones. To his surprise, the hellhound’s hand shot forward so quickly that even though Odin saw it, he was not quick enough to prevent his hand from grabbing his still hard shaft. A mixture of a gasp and moan escaped Odin as he buckled at the sensation of someone’s hand holding his manhood. It was suppose to be painful from the hellhound’s tight grip around it but it only seems to heighten the pleasure even more. Another gasp forced its way out of Odin’s mouth as the hellhound grabbed it tighter with a tiny tug that made pre-c*m leak out of Odin’s shaft; staining the basketball short that he’s wearing and making his eyes close at the pleasurable sensation.       “You don’t care? Hmmm...that may be the case...” another tug was issued to Odin’s throbbing c**k, “...but this, right here is clear indication that you want me.”       Odin gritted his teeth and opened his eyes to glare at the hellhound. But before he could do that, his eyes caught the hellhound’s erect shaft pointing at him as if demanding to be inside him. The hellhound grinned upon noticing where his mate is looking at. There’s an awed and nervous look in his eyes and he can’t blame him. After all, it’s not common to see a 12 inch c**k.       “Keep gaping and I might feel generous enough to shove it in your mouth.” Odin snapped out of his trance upon hearing the rogue’s amused voice. f**k! He cursed upon realizing that his mouth is wide open...and is that drool at the corner of his mouth?! What the f**k?!       “Keep dreaming, sucker! It’s the mate bond. I have nothing to do with it.”       The hellhound just grinned. “Sure...whatever you say, sugar plum.”       “I’m serious, you moron! I would never want a filthy rogue like you, especially you! You’re evil and I’d rather die than acknowledge and accept you as my mate!”       The hellhound only sighed once again. “Yeah, yeah, now let’s get out of here before I’m tempted to slaughter all those enforcers and give you more problems.”       Odin almost felt guilty about what he’s about to do. It’s disgraceful and a dishonor to do what he’s about to do but he has no choice. The hellhound seems determined to make Odin his and Odin can’t have that. He refuses to do so! If he wants to make it clear that he doesn’t want anything to do with the hellhound, then he needs to make it absolutely clear through actions seeing as words didn’t work.       As soon as the hellhound took his wrist and started tugging him along behind him, Odin summoned all his remaining strength. With a quick strike, he managed to claw at the hellhound’s nape but not his target. The hellhound has impressively quick reflexes and agility that allowed him to duck to avoid his medulla oblongata from being clawed. Instead, Odin barely only clawed at the bone beneath his nape. When the hellhound turned his head to look at him, his golden eyes are wide and the red that ringed his irises seem to burn like fire. Odin doesn’t doubt that he knows what he was aiming for and the fury he sees in the hellhound’s eyes frightened him.       “You pack wolves are all the same!” Odin flinched at the sharp loudness of the hellhound’s voice as he advances towards him. Odin forgot he’s an alpha. Instead, he’s filled with the instinct of a prey – to flee and hide. His feet fumbled and backtracked until his back hit the rough bark of the tree. Crap! He’s trapped!       “I-I-“ the hellhound’s hand shot up to punch the tree behind him and to his surprise, a force so powerful washed over and a loud, deafening snap reached his ears before the huge tree behind him collapsed. Odin stood – stunned. His heart is hammering in his chest and he started to sweat. There’s this nagging voice inside his head scolding him for doing something stupid and saying ‘now you have angered the beast’. Odin doesn’t want to let his fear show but his hands trembled and he can no longer hold the hellhound’s eyes. For the first time in his life, Odin felt true fear.       “You’re a f*****g disappointment and a true asshole, you know that?!” the hellhound continued to growl. “I spared your pack, I eliminated a spy, I saved you from being killed by the enforcers thrice, I helped heal you, I understood that being mated to a male is a complication and burden but I understood! I know it’s hard to accept so I was willing to wait until you have a clear head to fully think about our situation! I went out of my nature and ways just to give US a chance and this is how you repay me?!” with every word the hellhound spews out, Odin’s head bows lower and lower along with his shoulders in shame. “I was willing to do whatever it takes to make US work. Even though I hate you pack wolves, I was willing to put it aside because you’re my mate and I’ve waited and looked for you for years!”       When the hellhound leaned away from him to regard him with a disgusted look, Odin felt like a piece of s**t. “Again, I’m proven wrong. You’re just like them.” Odin’s chin was gripped and tilted up so he has to look up to the hellhound’s glaring golden-yellow eyes. “All of you always label us rogues as filthy and evil monsters but have you ever tried to find out what you pack wolves did to make us this way? You act so perfect and pristine but in the light of truth, you’re worse than us.”       It happened so quickly that Odin didn’t even get to react as he was carried off the ground upside-down, as the hellhound turned and jumped to another huge tree, hung Odin upside down using the tree’s barks and some thick vines around to secure his feet on the bark, jumped down and looked at Odin’s stunned expression. The look on the hellhound’s eyes was indecipherable but Odin has the feeling that this won’t be the last time he’ll be seeing the hellhound.       After a few second of silent eye contact, the hellhound turned around and left him hanging – literally.       And that’s how it all happened. Yes, it’s partially Odin’s fault but his pride won’t let him admit that. At least he got one problem out of the way. Make that two as he finally succeeded in untangling himself from the tree’s branch. The moon is already rising and that means he’s been away from his pack longer than necessary. Running back towards his pack in human form that is still not fully healed is not his ideal way of transportation but he persevered. He doesn’t know what happened to his pack but hopefully the enforcers didn’t hurt or kill any of them while he’s gone.       It was already 10:00 pm when he arrived at the pack and he was relieved to see that everything was fine, but the horrified and disgusted looks his pack gave him as he made his way to the pack house irked and unnerved him. It’s not the right time to play “blame” and “dethrone the alpha just because he haven’t found his mate yet” but when he opened the door of the pack house to see all the seven elders and the enforcer he saw earlier during their murder attempt, he got his answers. But what’s worse is what they said next.       “Congratulations finding your mate, alpha. But sadly, you’ll have to go seeing as you’re mated to the hellhound.”
