18. My choice

My Father lovingly pulls my mother in an embrace and kisses her cheek and nuzzles her much like Dimitri is doing to me. I turn my face to Dimitri again. There's so much I don't understand.

"Why would I be promised to someone other than my mate?" I ask.

"Sadly, not all wolves always find their mates, sweetheart." My Father answers.

"That is why it is so special if they do. We decend from a bloodline of Alpha's. You are not only a female born Alpha but the only heir to my pack. For centuries, any female Alpha would be betrothed at birth to another Alpha heir in case they do not find their true mate to carry on the bloodline."

"I'm an alpha and heir to a pack?" I shreik and tense up. That sounds like an awful lot of responsibility. Demetri starts laughing and hugs me tightly, shaking his head. He looks at my father in wonder.

"We're going to have the largest pack in the world." I look between him and my father, who is smiling wide.

"What does that even mean?" Demetri is still chuckling in disbelief as he explains

"I became Alpha of my pack when my father died. After we complete the bond, you will be Luna of my pack but still heir to your Father's. Upon his death, both packs will merge, creating the largest and strongest pack in the world. This is crazy."

"The moon Goddess chose you both. This is her plan." My mother says with pride.

I can only imagine the look on my face. I can't wrap my head around any of this. A capless bottle of vodka is suddenly being waved in my face. Alex. You, dear sweet man. I smile at him and take the bottle for a well needed pick me up. Handing the bottle back to him with a silent thank you.

"Let me see if I got this all." Now that I have my bearings straight." I start counting on my fingers again, working through everything I've learned outloud.

"I'm an alpha heir, and you promised me to Woodsy the Owl over there in case I never found a mate. Enter Dimitri, who I have indeed found. Even though we are mates, we are not completely mated yet, which I'm assuming we will do soon. Demetri is also Alpha of his own pack, which I will basically be a sordof werewolf queen to. Is this all correct?"

Everyone agrees except Vincent. Seriously, f**k this guy. Which brings me to my next question. Excellent.

"So how do we complete the mating bond and why did you say it was my choice?" I ask my father.

"Sometimes a wolf will reject its mate for whatever reason. This will happen before the mating bond is completed, of course. They can choose another mate or choose to never mate at all. You must understand, however, that this is not always the best choice. There are consequences. When you complete the bond with a wolf that is not your true mate, you will not have as strong of a bond. The link you share is a little more than the bond you currently share with Dimitri. You will also always have a longing for your true mate. If a wolf chooses to not mate at all they can become irritable. Sometimes, they slowly lose their minds. It usually never ends well." My father explains.

I see. I turn to Dimitri. Now, sitting sideways in his lap. Both of my arms around his neck. With all of this laid out on the table, I'm not even going to try to pretend that I don't have feelings boiling inside me for this man.

I have an idea, but I just want to be sure. I kiss him deeply. Not just because I want to but because Vincent here needs to know his place. I have absolutely zero intentions of even entertaining him as a contender. Dimitri might be a deranged asshole but he's my deranged asshole. Plus he's f*****g hot. Time to get down to business.

"How do we complete the bond, Dimitri?" I whisper in his ear.

His eyes glow and the sapphire blue in his eyes start swirling. That evil smile slowly appears on his handsome face. His canines have descended. Soooooo hot.

He leans into my ear "I f**k you and bite you." He says in the most sexy husky voice I have ever heard then he begins kissing down my jaw and neck scraping his teeth down my skin.

I shiver.

He kisses his way back to my ear then nips it. "Then you bite me."

I'm beyond turned on right now.

"When?" I try not to moan as pleasure engulfs my body. I'm totally ready to do this now if this is what I have coming to me.

He pulls back and brushes my hair behind my ear. "After you shift for the 1st time, Love." He kisses me on the nose.

Saturday. I shift Saturday. I smile. s**t. My parents. I mean my adopted ones. What the f**k am I going to tell them.

I come to a realization and I'm not sure if it's going to go over well.

"I have a request?" I say outloud to everyone.

"Dimitri, can you bring me home and meet my parents? Well my other parents?" I don't like keeping secrets. I want them involved in as much as they can be involved in.

"Yeah, Love." He nods.

I smile and kiss him. I lean over and look at my parents.

"I would like you to come meet them tomorrow afternoon, after school. If you're comfortable with that. After Dimitri and I talk to them tonight. Is that OK?" I was really nervous asking them this. I don't want to make them feel rejected or weird.

Juliana is crying again and leaning over to hug me.

"We would love that. I want to thank the people that took care of my baby and kept you safe for us" She brushes my hair. "We don't want to make anything difficult for you, Honey. We just want our girl back in our lives. We understand things will also take time." She smiles softly.

I look at Vincent, who is having a complete inner meltdown.

"You can go back to your pack. I'm sorry If I wasted your time or caused any inconvenience but Dimitri and I will be completing our bond as soon as possible. I'm choosing him as my mate."

Vincent starts growling and flies up out of his chair. He's starting to shift. His eyes are glowing yellow. I see teeth and claws.

Holy f*****g s**t!

Alex quickly pulls me off of Dimitri as Dimitri quickly launches out of the chair and flies across the wicker coffee table catching Vincent mid-air by his neck. His claws are digging into Vincent's skin. I see blood dripping where his claws have punctured Vincent's neck.

"You want to challenge? Call it. I'll go right now. You're still nothing more than an heir. I'll slaughter you without even trying." He tells him in a tone laced with the promise of death. I feel it right between my legs.

Vincent is just dangling kicking his feet trying to remove Dimitri's hand from his neck. He shakes his head "No." Dimitri drops him.

"Get the f**k off my lawn and don't even think about looking at my mate on the way out!" Suddenly 4 men come out from behind the bushes and start escorting Vincent around the house to his car. Have they been there the entire time?

Dimitri immediately runs up to me and starts frantically checking me to see if I'm hurt. Alex assures him, "Don't worry, she's fine. I was watching him and knew what was coming. I pulled her off of you before he even got out of his chair." Dimitri nods, pulling me in his arms and relaxes.

"Come on, let me take you home. It's time to dazzle your parents."
