AUTHOR’S POV The twin moons of Megatopia hung high, bathing the vast forests of the NightShadow Pack in an eerie silver glow. The wind howled through the towering pines, carrying whispers of an untamed beast-one that even the fiercest warriors feared. Damian Blackwood stood at the edge of the sacred clearing, his broad frame rigid, muscles coiled tight like a predator ready to strike. His silver eyes burned with an untamed fire, his wolf Deon raging beneath his skin. The bond was absent. The void inside him deepened every day. His father, Alpha King Kael, had warned him. "Without your mate, you will lose control." Damian scoffed at the thought. Control? It had been slipping through his fingers for years. The beast inside him was a tempest-wild, relentless, demanding something he could not give. Until she arrived. Far beyond the stars, through an unknown tear in the universe, Selena fell from the heavens. A girl not of this world. A fragile human. A soul not meant for the darkness that ruled Megatopia. But when Damian saw her-when his eyes met hers for the first time- everything stopped. The bond snapped into place with such force that his breath hitched. Deon, the untamable, the unbreakable, fell silent. And Damian knew. She was his. The storm inside him had finally found its calm. But the world was cruel. A fragile human could not survive in a world ruled by wolves. And a monster like him... could never deserve someone as pure as her. Yet, fate had already written their story. And it had begun with a single, fateful meeting. ****************** The wind howled through the towering pines of Night Shadow Pack's territory, carrying the scent of the hunt and the restless energy of the wolves patrolling the borders. At the heart of the grand stone estate stood Damian Blackwood, his tall, powerful frame silhouetted against the moonlit sky. His silver eyes gleamed under the night's embrace -calm, yet always watchful. Inside his mind, a growl echoed, low and deep. You're restless, Deon, his wolf, rumbled, his presence a storm of barely contained energy. Damian clenched his jaw, stepping onto the balcony that overlooked the vast expanse of his kingdom. And you're not? He shot back. His fingers curled over the marble railing, his claws threatening to extend "Damian, you're wearing that look again," came a familiar voice. Smith, his Beta and childhood friend, leaned against the doorway with a knowing smirk. His arms were crossed, but his sharp gaze held concern. "Let me guess-Deon’s being an insufferable bastard again?" "You act like that's something new," Damian muttered, his voice laced with irritation. I heard that, Deon growled in his mind, and I don't care. We need to run. We need to hunt. Smith sighed, pushing off the frame and walking up beside him. "You should let loose once in a while. Take him out for a run before he drives you insane." Damian's grip on the railing tightened. It's not just the restlessness, he admitted to Deon alone. It's the emptiness. The void. Something's... missing. Deon huffed. Our mate. At that moment, his silver eyes darkened, flickering black for the briefest second before he forced the emotion down. Possession. Obsession. But there was no one to claim, no one to tame and control his raging wolf. "Tch." Damian pushed off the railing, shaking his head. "Running won't change anything. You and I both know that." Smith studied him, then sighed. "Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you when you finally snap and shift in the middle of a damn dinner." Damian smirked, a ghost of amusement flashing in his eyes. "If that happens, just make sure the Elders don't piss themselves." Smith barked a laugh. "No promises." But as Damian turned back toward his room, his smirk faded. Deep inside, Deon growled with frustration, clawing at the edges of his mind We need her, he whispered. Where is she? Damian had no answer. But he knew one thing-if he didn't find his mate soon, the beast inside him would eventually take over. And when that happened, not even the Alpha King would be able to stop him.
