Chapter Ten

1033 Words
Tempest pov Since I found my life partner in Shane. He moved in and kept training Storm as a guise to stay near me. Storm and Vitani give us nights together and have dates when we really need them. Some days Shane has to remind us that Vitani and I also need the training too. Us girls wanted to watch Shane and Leon fight in their animal forms, but we don't have a training house big enough for them. Dueling both Shane and Leon at once really put our body through the ringer. Storm wore herself out trying to heal all the bruises, cuts and a few broken bones. There was a lot of damage we sustained. Shane was moping after that. Beating the absolute s**t out of each other in sparring makes partners upset. Leon sympathic, pointed out that in a real fight enemies wouldn't feel bad if, I'm wounded but will make use that an injured target is a dead target. Shane equally hated that I was constantly targeted, but there wasn't much he could do. After this last sparring, though, Storm exhausted all her strength, which drained our body in turn. Stifling a yawn, I stood looking at my partner and asked for mid-afternoon cuddles. Leon gagged as Shane nodded happily. Before I could react, he scooped me up in his arms and took off toward the house to our new bigger bed. Storm and Vitani both had already fallen asleep, and I was on the verge too, but Shane said I needed a shower before the nap. Being all sweaty and sleeping isn't comfortable. However, I couldn't get the minuscule strength to wash up, and I think he knew it. So he ran a bubble bath to help relax the muscles and clean off the sweat. Helping me strip out of the workout clothes, he placed me in the bath among the bubbles, then stripped his own clothes off and came to sit behind me. Rubbing my shoulders, he hummed softly. I started to relax even more as he massaged away the tenseness. I felt my body relax more and more. He wets my hair to soap it up, washing the shampoo out to follow up with conditioner. I needed a reminder why we had life partners and a painful reminder of how alone us three girls have been growing up. We all loved each other, but we could only show so much love and care for each other. Shane sensed my sadness and hummed a little louder with a more loving tune attached to it. He was chasing my sadness away. Something struck me though. How did people know they had found their life partners? So I asked Shane. Shane said to secure life partners to each other. They had to mark each other, most of them. The non-animal shifters had their own way of marking, but Shane didn't know for sure how it worked. I hummed in response and just pushed the thoughts out of the way for now. Soon I fell asleep to Shane's soft humming, feeling safe and loved. My afternoon nap turned into all night sleep. Shane must have carried me to bed after the bath. The bed didn't feel wet or damp, so I'm guessing he dried me off too. Stretching, I crawled out of bed, put on some clothes and went looking for my love. When I opened my door, though, I smelt breakfast. Someone was cooking, and I wondered if it was my love or my brother. Coming down the stairs. I saw my cute house pets in their house guardian forms fighting each other over a big ball of yarn. Sighing at my damaged living room furniture and Leon. He does this knowing it irritates me, but only does this when his mind is overthinking every angle. Yes, I call him my brother because he grew up with us. Turning the corner, it was my love cooking food and Leon had magic books flying around while quills were writing on paper, anything that came out of Leon's mouth. I wondered what caused this rabbit hole. One of Leon's ex-girlfriends taught him some basic magic tricks, and he took it from there. She didn't expect him to go as far as mastering three different kinds of magic. He's using levation magic for the quills, object control for the writing of the same quills. The magic books were animated objects from a few hundred years ago. Someone got tired of holding books and carrying them around. So they, back then, decided to "curse" the more important books. Soon they realized it wasn't a true curse and unreliable at times, as some books just wanted to fly away. Leon figured out how to get the books to stay where needed. That made the ex-witch mad, and she broke up with him. Since then, she was practicing more and got better. Realizing how wrong she was, she apologized, gifted even more books to make her more sincere. So anyway Leon has flying books everywhere, hence the big yarn keeping the cats busy. Shane was just plating some eggs when he spotted me leaning against the kitchen door frame and a look of guilt came across his face. "So I really should keep my mouth shut around your brother." he spoke, causing Leon to jump, he turned to glare at Shane for spooking him with sudden words. I giggled at the two, "So what caused this rabbit hunt, big brother?" "Shane mentioned your question this morning and I thought I had read it somewhere, but I also found out some more things too. Maybe after breakfast I'll share somethings. Most of them are just theorys, mind you." He added that last part quickly, knowing we wouldn't be happy about being kept in the dark. Vitani and Storm were eager for some time walking around. So I kissed Shane on the cheek and said "I'll be back. They need some fresh air." Shane responded with "Let Vitani out. She needs some fighting practice." "Hand to hand not sword fighting," he added with a frown. She heard him and had started pouting already. Slowly she took over.
