The Crash That Changed Everything

POV: Liam She was lying on a small hospital bed in an emergency clinic by the highway. Unconscious. Silent. Her lips were pink, her skin pale, but there were bruises and bandages on her head and arms. I watched her while Dad held the medical form in his hand. Josh sat quietly in the corner, looking like a scolded little boy. We were all… stunned. “What’s her name?” the nurse asked. We all shook our heads at the same time. “She doesn’t have any ID, ma’am,” I said. “No phone either.” “Then maybe we’ll list her as… Jane Doe for now,” the nurse said, typing into the system. Jane Doe. The code name for unidentified patients. Like a ghost. No name. No identity. POV: Josh Dear God. I don’t know how to say sorry. I just wanted to mess around. I never thought I’d actually hit someone. And the one I hit... was a girl. Beautiful. Looked rich. And she was bleeding. I looked at Kuya Liam. He was quiet, but I could tell he was angry. “I’m really sorry, Kuya…” I whispered. He didn’t answer. But I could feel the weight in his eyes. The burden of responsibility. POV: Ayah (Unconscious – Flash Memory) “Princess Ayah, you’re not allowed to go out alone!” “You need a bodyguard! Something might happen to you!” But I escaped... I just wanted to feel normal for once. To drive. On my own. No jewelry, no nannies. Just me. Just Ayah. Not Princess Ayah. Not the heiress. But here I am. An accident, just like that. Maybe I really don’t belong in the normal world. POV: Dan Honestly, I don’t know whether I should be mad at Josh or feel sorry for him. But mostly… I feel guilty. Because I saw it. I saw him get into the driver’s seat. I should’ve stopped him. I looked at the girl. Even with the blood, she was beautiful. Like a movie star. “Who do you think she is?” Tony asked. “I don’t know,” Manny answered. “But judging by that car…” “She’s definitely rich,” we all said at the same time. POV: Ayah I slowly opened my eyes. The ceiling was white. The air conditioner hummed loudly. The smell of medicine filled the room. Where am I? “She’s awake!” someone shouted. I turned my head. Five guys. All different, but they looked like brothers. One of them was holding my hand. “Miss, are you okay?” he asked. I nodded, even though I wasn’t sure if I was. “Where am I…?” I asked softly. “At a clinic. You were in an accident,” he replied. POV: Liam When I saw her open her eyes God, it felt like a weight lifted off my chest. “Miss, we’re really sorry,” I said. “My brother accidentally hit your car…” I saw fear in her eyes. But there was confusion too. “You don’t need to worry,” I added. “We’ll take care of all your medical expenses.” She looked at me. Just for a moment. But in that look… it felt like she was hiding something. POV: Ayah I didn’t know if I should say it. Who I was. Who the car belonged to. What kind of family I came from. But I didn’t know who they were either. They didn’t look like bad people. They didn’t seem like thieves. In fact, they looked like a family. So all I could say was… “Thank you… for helping me.”
