The night air outside was fresh and chill, biting against my skin.
I walked along the outer edge of the estate grounds with my hands tucked into the pockets of my coat, letting the silence settle around me.
Lately, silence was the only thing that made sense..
And lately, there was too much to think about and all at the same time...
I exhaled slowly, my breath fogging faintly in the cool air.
Mira wasn’t to return tonight.
Her text had been brief.
Staying over with Judy. Getting information.
Nothing more.
That alone should have irritated me.
Instead, It unsettled me.
Not because she was gone—
But because I never knew what she was truly doing.
