Chapter 1

Ariana

"Ariana time to get ready for school!"

"I will be right there mom."

My name in an Arianna H Ginnings and sometimes I wish my life was easy. I mean I get straight A's in school and I have the best friends in school. My friends Bree and Lilly and Pazely  have always been there for me and I have always been there for them. 

Bree lives with her mom but her dad died when she was eight in a car accident that was so bad they had to buy a new car. She never recovered mentally from the accident. She blames herself. I was there to be her shoulder to lean on and we have been friends since. 

Lilly lives with her mom and overpowering  dad who is always inventing new ways of grounding her because she is so rebellious and does whatever she wants to do. Like this one time when she and I wanted to see fifty shade of grey But it was rated R. She begged her parents to bring her but they didn't so she made a fake ID and went into the theater alone . Sure she got grounded for a week but she told me it was worth it.

Pazley has it better than us with her and her parents living in the suburbs of  Landcliff and having a nice car and having a lot of siblings. Even I wish I had her life. It was much simpler than mine and better. She once bought her, bree, Lilly, and I these golden necklace with a butterfly encrusted with diamonds for christmas as a symbol of our friendship and I was amazed. With such intricate design I loved that thing so much and I still have it. I keep it in a lock box so my little sister doesn't get it and break it.

Here I find myself in the morning brushing my hair so it looks precise and perfect and brushing my teeth so I don't have morning breath. When I heard a loud bang coming from the kitchen and I go down stairs to find that my sister knocked over the cookie jar with freshly made cookies I made last night. I had to turn because I could feel my blood boiling and I didn't want to get shame on my outfit. I turned and grabbed my car keys and went out the door without grabbing breakfast. Hoping that I would get over this.

"Honey will you drive your sister to school today? I am running late for work," my mom asked.

"Yeah sure," I said even though it was out of sarcasm and wit. "Nina get your stuff and let's go."

"Okay," Nina said.

We got into my car and  and we drove down my familiar road.

"Do you got everything?" I asked Nina who by the way is thirteen years old but acts like she is ten.

"Yeah I got all my stuff."

"Okay I will see you after school. Oh and mom will pick you up."

"Okay bye sis see you after school."

"I love you bye."

After that I went straight to school. When I got to school I was easily annoyed and was not up to the teachers bullshit lectures about life. Of course I wasn't listening I was staring at the hottest guy in school Gabe but he never realizes my gawking. Just like he never noticed me my freshman year. 

Gabe lives with his dad and mom who fight a lot and I was the first one he ever told. It felt so good to know he trusted me  a stranger that much to let me know. That was the only time he and I ever connected. I didn't even try to reconnect with him in that deep of a way after that.talk about weird.

"Hey Arianna why don't you just go up and say hi and have a conversation with him?" Bree said. Sounding a little bit smug.

"I don't know how he feels about me and I don't want to be a nuisance to him." I said.

"You need to stop being a baby and get over your shyness otherwise your opportunity will not come, Arianna. "

I know but-

No but she said interrupting my shy stuttering.

"Um who the new kid?"

"His name is Xander. He transferred here from Hintbell. Arianna are you sure you're alright?" Bree asked.

"Yeah I just didn't know we were getting a new kid today. So I was thrown off guard."I said now Gawking at the new kid. I didn't really know it but somehow I felt like I knew him from somewhere but I wasn't really sure .At that second he looked up at me and smiled.

Shit I said in my head and turned around my heart racing now knowing that I got caught staring. I only had one thought going through my head f*****g stupid b***h you shouldn't be gawking at people like that and at that point I didn't know that he was right next to me when I looked up he was still smiling.

"Hi" he said my name is Xander Carolton what's your name?

"Arianna H Ginnings and sorry for the gawking I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

"Well you would be the first one to apologize for staring at me not most people do." Xander said

"The office said you were student body president and that if I had any questions to ask you." He said

"Oh, well ask away." I said wondering what he was going to ask.

"Have you ever heard of  Zeus before?"

My heart leaped by that question for some reason but I didn't know why.

"I'm sorry I haven't heard that name before." I replied 

"Oh sorry I didn't mean to bombard you with a Weird Question like that." He said.

"No it's okay-" 

"No really I am really truly sorry- "

"I said it's okay." I said not trying to sound rude or mean.

"Okay." he said

"Well I've got to get to my next class but I guess I'll see you around." I said blushing so hard.

"I guess." he replied.

When the last bell chimed telling us school was over for the day I put my binders and pencils in my bag and was halfway out the door when I heard Bree and Lilly's voices from right behind me.

Hey guys I said knowing I would never get out the door without seeing them.

Where have you been? Bree asked

Yeah Lilly said sounding concerned.

They had been concerned about me since my big break down freshmen year I was in a terrible space than.

I've been better I said trying to sound nonchalant about it.

Do you want to maybe go to the mall with us to go shopping? Bree asked

Yeah that sounds like it would be fun. I said

Yeah this will get you out of this funk you've been in for a while. Lilly said.

Okay just let me call my mom and tell her that I won't be home for a while.

Okay let's take my car. I said

Who else's car would we take your the only one of us who has a car. Besides pazley. Lilly said

Hey guys.

I heard a familiar voice.

Pazley!

Did she agree to go?

Yeah but we practically had to beg. Bree said.

Good we were not leaving without her.  She's been in a funk since her boyfriend broke up with her-

Can we not get into that guys I am trying to get over that douchebag. I said.

Yeah and what better way than to go to the biggest sale at Fuchsias than a girls night out Bree said.

How much is the sale? I asked feeling oddly excited.

Eighty percent off. Lilly added like she and Bree were Twins finishing each other's sentences.

Holy s**t then let get going.

Good. Lilly said.

As we made our way down the road I got to thinking about the event of last summer and how I was seeing weird things. It was like I was in a different world and it made me scared. My summer was also the summer of my bad break up with Neal and we had loved each other so much. And It made me sad about how our relationship ended. He wasn't sensitive to the fact that I didn't want to have s*x yet. Because I was a virgin and I wanted to keep it like that. He got mad at me and we broke up, but we had been dating for eight months before that. It was a total shock because no one thought he would break up with me over that.

So here we were soon at the mall and to be honest I was having fun.

"Hey Lilly let go to Sephora and see what makeup products are in."

Fine but I am only going because I want to see what's hot at JCPenney. Lilly said

As we walked through our stores I noticed something out of the corner of my eye and was not sure what it was so I decided to go investigating. 

Little did I know there was a dog but it didn't look like a dog it was a huge dog and It had two heads.

All that was going on in my head was god can my day get any worse.The dogs seem to ignore me. As if it didn't see me at all. I was very concerned like am I that invisible? You have to admit that seeing a two headed giant ass dog would be quite scary. And why the f**k couldn't anyone see it but me? This is so f****d up I thought to myself. What was going on with me. Strange s**t like this has been happening for years. like that one time in summer camp when there was an electrical storm. And I got struck by lightning. And somehow it didn't affect me at all. Everyone was so concerned. But I wasn't hurt. from that point on I felt pretty invincible. And then there was this time in the back alley. Downtown in landcliff oh did I mention that Landcliff is the smallest town in Colorado. But it's probably one of the most known towns/cities. And we have one of the biggest high schools which is so stupid. Anyway back to the story. weird s**t has been happening to me. In the alley something strange happened. I was on my way home after getting my favorite bagels at Mr. bagel's. And lightning shot out of my hands. My hands with emphasis. I was so scared. And then I tried to do it again. But I couldn't it was so weird. I swore to my friends that it had happened. But they thought that I was high as a kite. Or was just seeing things. I wasn't in the mood to delegate whether I had seen or not seen anything. Anyway that was the other part of the funk that had been in this summer. After that I decided I would go on a road to self discovery. It seem like the best thing to do at the time. And so I decide to do kind of a nature retreat. Mom thought it was the smartest idea ever. My mom Grace has always been a figure in my life that I look up to. I don't know what I would do without her. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for weird s**t from now on. Who knows what will happen.
