Chapter 44
Eve was awakened when she felt her back being covered by a warm and solid body. Alex was hugging her tightly in his arms, his head burrowed in the crook of her neck. Her nostrils were filled with his cool scent and a faint smell of wine. She wanted to get out of his embrace, but he held her tightly.
"Let me hug you for a while," he uttered in a hoarse voice.
Eve was a bit baffled by his strange behavior. She could sense that something was not right with him. He was drunk!
"What's wrong? You said you would be meeting your business associates. Why did you end up in a drunken state?" she asked him, though her tone was more like scolding.
"It's hard to refuse them," he grunted in response.
"Do they even dare to force the overbearing Mr. Harris?" She rolled her eyes at him.
