I felt my tummy tighten.
The silence that followed his question echoed our heartbeats. I didn't know if I heard well or if the curse hadn't fully been cured.
I took a glance at the scar on my arm that still pulsated pain and wondered if it was really worth it, what I did.
"This is the third time tonight you are pushing me away, Kaelen. What do you really want?"
"I want you to not get caught up in this, Mirella", he straightened himself up . "I can sort myself out and find my way about that. I can't have you risking your life for me like this."
