Chapter XXV
The news
Over the next few days Clara kept on feeling not so well. She would get tired easily and her stomach was constantly sick. She decided to go to a doctor. She did not know any in Milan and she chose one looking at a small sign on a front door near their house .
The only doctor she went to in the village was old dr Marinucci, who was a dear friend of the family more than a doctor. He had seen them all being born and had treated the ailments of the old one and the young ones .
-I wonder who has taken his place now that he has gone- she thought while she was going up the two narrow and dark flights of stairs. She had never wondered that and now she could not imagine who could have taken his place.
