Abigail's POV
I stared down at the acceptance letter with not exactly a smile on my face. I didn't do much in the interview and that Mateo just looked at me weirdly.
I couldn't quite tell what it was because it wasn't lust for anything. From all the rumors, he hated being touched by women or even being close to them except his sister who was obviously the one sitting next to him in the interview hall.
“Did you get accepted?” A familiar voice came from beside me and I looked up to see the petite lady who had served us tea earlier standing there with a small tray in her hand.
“Yes I did.” I replied to her and I could see a bright smile on her face.
“Welcome to the Lee corporations. I'm Linda.” She stretched out her hand, carrying the tray in her othe hand skillfully like she was used to it. I took her hand, shaking it slightly with an equally warm smile.
“Nice meeting you, Linda. I'm Abigail, but you can just call me Abby.” I replied and she nodded gently.
“Abby is a nice name.” She complimented and before she could say another word, a feminine voice from behind called her. I turned to see it was the young mistress of the Lee family, Lee Melody. “Coming, young mistress.”
She hurriedly handed me a small plate of pastry. “You have to wait till the four heads address you and it might take a while, I've been asked to serve you something to eat meanwhile. See you some other time, Abby.” She said hurriedly before rushing to Melody who looked to be talking to her with a stern express before she pulled her into a hug with a bright smile.
Although I couldn't tell what they were talking about but it was rare to see someone in Melody's position to actually bat an eye on those below her. She wasn't like other spoiled brats it seemed.
We have been seated here for over six hours now and I could not lie that I was hungry. Besides, I haven't had breakfast this morning and I didn't know how long we would have to wait before the five of us who had been accepted would wait.
It seemed like it was only my interview that didn't take more than five minutes because the others spent a considerable amount of time inside and that made me think back to Mateo Lee.
He was a hottie like everyone had rumoured and if it wasn't that I was here on a more important scale, I would have melted before him.
His black hair extended down to his earlobe but it was pushed back in a comfortable way. He had a chiseled face and although it always held no emotions in all pictures of him, I could bet anything that I saw a smile on his face.
“What exactly was this guy's motive?” I asked myself in a hushed tone, more like I was talking to myself because I was.
“Miss Kim, please step in with the others to get a rundown on your tasks from now on.” A voice pulled me out of my thoughts instantly and I did as I was told.
****
It has been two days since I started working here and I was given the task of a big project manager. I didn't know why I was instantly placed to that position but it confirmed more that Mateo had something to do with it, since I was told I would be reporting to him.
I walked into the elevator looking at the screen I had in my hand, going through all the detail I had finalized with those helping me in managing the project.
The ding of the elevator made me look up and I was finally on his floor. I walked down the red carpet which seemed to be like a royal walkway as the sides were white marbles with golden splashes.
Looking on my left, I could see the entire city whiile on my right side, the view was blocked by the wall I could suspect was his office.
As I got before his door, I saw a group of men standing there with another one who seemed to be leading them. He had blonde hair falling down to rest on his shoulders and he had a rimless glass on.
They all turned to look at me as I arrive and I couldn't help but fear I came at a very wrong time. “I-I came to see boss.” I said and they all looked at the blonde man who nodded, gesturing to me to go in.
I did as he had ordered and without knocking to ask for permission due to fear of the men behind me, I stepped into the room hurriedly.
I turned to see Mateo staring at me from his table. He was standing before his table, shirtless and I could see his waistline from his loose trousers.
My face burned bright red as my gaze fell on his body. What on earth was I thinking. My job was definitely over now. “I am so sorry, sir.” I hurriedly turned to rush out in embarrassment but he spoke up.
“Stop right there.” His tone was cold and I was compelled to stop in my tracks. I had hoped I would be saved by escaping.
At least if the strange men before me would kill me, it was better than Mateo Lee doing that himself.
I still didn't turn and just stood on my spot, my hand extended towards the door as I had frozen in place. “Look here.” I heard his commanding voice and I had no choice but to do as he said.
On turning, he was already walking towards me and I subconsciously took a step back, trying to move away from the supposed danger but he didn't stop and only strode towards me.
My back suddenly hit the door and his hands instantly pinned me against the door, the lock sound was heard and I was trapped here with him.
“I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't mean to walk in on you. I just had the project report and I was scared of the men outside so I walked in without running. Please don't fire me.” I blurted out without realizing what I had done.
He stared down at me and him being this close to me made my heart hammer against my chest very hard. “Damn he was so hot.” I thought, trying not to let my gaze fall down his perfectly sculpted body and down to his waistline which was still revealed due to his loose belt.
He didn't say a work and just stared at me. “Scared of the men outside?” He finally said and I hurriedly nodded. His face slowly came close to mine, his comd expression not changing.
I hurtful closed my eyes, hugging the screen to my chest hard and if the glass it was was made of was ordinary, it would be broken already.
He suddenly pulled away, walking back towards his table. “Then now then now that you're here, you might as well help me dress up.”
