Indigo I stood in the shower, letting the water wash over me. My skin felt raw from where I had scrubbed, trying to rid myself of their traces. But even then, I could still feel them on my skin-taste them in the air, smell them in my nostrils. It was like they had burrowed beneath my flesh, soaking into my pores. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t escape the memories. I stood in the shower until the water ran cold until I drifted away from reality and into a hazy state of disassociation. And still, they lingered. When I emerged, I was a ghost of my former self. I felt empty, hollow-like the very core of my being had been ripped out.
