  Axle's POV   I sat there with the empty glass in my hand, staring at nothing and everything all at once. My head was a mess, and my chest felt heavier than it had in months.   She had said it was a mistake. A mistake.   The words looped like a broken record, scratching against every corner of my mind. But no matter how hard I tried to force myself to believe it, I couldn't forget the way she had responded to me.   The way she had kissed me back.   The way she had pulled me closer, like I was oxygen and she was drowning.   That wasn't a mistake. That was real. I felt it. I'd felt it in the way her body had melted against mine, in the way her voice had trembled when she said my name, in the desperate little gasps that told me she had wanted me just as much as I had wanted her.
