43 The ecstasy of being kissed again by Daniel quickly faded as I assessed our current situation. The enormous room we had been plopped into didn’t appear to have any borders. I couldn’t see a wall in any direction, and there was nothing above us. The enormity of our space was somehow oddly suffocating. Three hulking, bearded, and somber old men sat on gold-gilded thrones in front of us. “Do you have anything to say for yourself?” The one in the middle had his hands raised as if he were expecting an answer.
