Chapter 8

I was in my room, on my bed, the familiar things around my room made me feel relaxed. suddenly my eyes widened and I smiled to myself, today is my birthday, finally, I'm 18. Before I could get out of bed, the door bursts open. My mum, my Dad and my sister rushed into the room, my mum bearing a big cake, they all had smiles on their faces and I was shocked cos the smiles seemed genuine and they have never celebrated my birthday before order than occasional gifts and wishes
They began singing the Happy Birthday song. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears, so I sat up on my bed grinning like a Cheshire cat. I reached out to grab the cake from mum when I heard his voice at the door.
Talon leaned against the door, both his hands in his pocket looking ever so handsome.
"Happy Birthday to you mate." he bellowed.
Suddenly, Ruby started screaming.
"NO! It can't be, you can't be mated to this nobody." She screamed at him, referring to me as the 'nobody'.
I was too shocked to give a reply, even mum got confused and didn't know whether to give me the cake or hold on to it, Dad rushed to his now sobbing daughter trying to comfort her. Suddenly the friendly atmosphere turned sour.
Talon seemed unperturbed as he continued to stare at me without moving.
I started feeling light headed because of all the drama Ruby was causing, I didn't understand what was going, I was about to fall back on the bed when I felt strong arms holding me, and from The scent, I knew it was Talon.
I opened my eyes, and met with his beautiful eyes, I was so lost in it's depth that I forgot about everything going on around me, but when I looked around you were alone in the room.
" Where is everyone?" I wondered aloud.
" it's just the two of us my love." he replied, his deep baritone doing wonders on my inside, He started caressing my face with his long fingers, stoking the already budding fire, I leaned into him, enjoying the moment and the feelings that his fingers ignited.
Then someone walked in through the slightly open door, He was so tall, huge and handsome, but his sapphire blue eyes was what kept me Captivated.
"Bradley" I whispered his name, shocked to see him in my room.
How did he get here?
How did he know where to find me?
He was staring daggers at Talon seeming not to have heard my whispered questions.
" Take your hands off her, she's no longer yours.," he growled
Talon laid me back on my pillow gently before facing him, he was a head shorter than Bradley, but he looked at him straight in the eye.
I couldn't help but notice the difference between both of them, one was huge and buffed out, the other was tall and slender and could hold his own, but I knew that Talon could never win in a fight against him.
I tried stretching my hand to hold Talon back, but he wouldn't listen to me.
"She is my damn mate, she is not yours." he growled back, looking at Bradley, spoiling for a fight.
"But you will left her for her sister, have you forgotten so soon?"
Suddenly, I remembered everything that had happened, the betrayal, the heartache, the pain, everything, rushed back at me all at once and suddenly I started shivering and shaking my head scooting back away from Talon, tears started forming in my eyes.
He turned and looked at me, his eyes held a lot of emotions, hurt, shame, pain and some other emotions I didn't want to to interpret, right now, all I could see was him and Ruby, naked in bed, and for some reason, I couldn't erase that memory no matter how hard I tried, it was as if it was on auto replay, playing right in front of me, I could hear her moans and how she whispered his name.
The pain became intense, as if I was being stabbed in the chest over and over again, the pain was so bad that all I could do was hold onto my chest and scream, I could hear Bradley shouting.
" See what it caused, see the pain you've caused her, I want you to stay away from her, do you hear me, stay the f**k away "
"Never," Talon screamed back at him, " I know I made a mistake, but I will make everything right . . ."
All of the sudden, I woke up, I found myself in a strange room, sweat was pouring all over my body, I was lying down on a mattress on a stone floor, it was the a heaps of gold and precious jewels and stones in the corner that reminded me of the fact that I had followed a dragon shifter, a stranger, to his lair and as if I was hit by a train, the words he spoke to me came back to my mind.
He claimed he had feelings for me, how can be so sure after such a short meeting, my emotions were all jumbled, I didn't know what to think, I didn't know what to believe, in fact I didn't want to think about it right now, I already have a complicated situation with my mate, I don't want to rush head long into another relationship.
I sat up, looking around for water to drink and I saw a jar on a short stool, close to the bed. I couldn't find a cup anywhere so I drank directly from the jar.
When my thirst was quenched, I decided to explore the cave.
Aside from this opening and the one leading to the pool, there wasn't much to the cave, so I decided to explore the pool while I was alone. Then a thought came to me that I didn't have what to change into if I wet my clothes and the clothes I was wearing was absolutely dirty after sleeping in them on the forest floor so I decided to search around to see if I could find anything to wear.
I saw a little crevice in a wall between the room and the passage which we had come in from, it was as if it was dug out by hand but clothes were neatly folded inside. I reached in and took out a shirt it was so big that it would swallow me, it didn't escape my mind that this may seem very intimate, but I hope he will understand and at least it will cover me.
I walked back towards the pool, checking the walls, I found another crevice where there was a bar of soap.
"This will have to do ." I mumbled to myself.
I stripped down and walked towards the falling water, the thin veil that would cover me in case somebody someone approached the pool.
I stood behind the veil, using the water falling from the cracks to wet my body as I applied the soap gently. I didn't find any shampoo anywhere so I decided to wash my hair with the soap, I hope I don't regret it, I continued massaging the soap inside my hair when I was satisfied that all the dirt and grease was taken care of. I went under the cascading water, allowing the thin sheet of water to wash the soap off my body, I went to head to scrub my body wash myself before jumping in for a swim.
Due to my gills, I could go down to the bottom of the pool, the water was surprisingly deep so took delight in exploring it's depths, I found a crack where the water was escaping from the pool, 'I'm sure all these would wash down back into the ocean' I thought to myself as I continued to explore the bottom of a pool, the crack wasn't too big, but if I squeeze myself in, I'm sure, I could pass through. I let the thought go for now, I was just happy to be in water again.
The sun was hitting directly into the pool making it look blue blue were than before and I could also see the bottom clearly, there were some moss and water plants growing on the rocks beneath.
I decided to experiment on my Siren, trying to see if she would come out, I laid down on the bottom of the pool, my legs had changed into a fishtail and they were fins at the back of my hand that could help me swim I close my eyes willing my siren out, but I couldn't hear or feel anything.
I haven't heard from her since when she saw our mate with our sister and then it all clicked in my head, how did Bradley know that Talon cheated on me with my sister? I know I never told him that, then I shook my head, it must have been the dream, and it's just what it is, a dream.
I was enjoying my swim that I didn't want to leave the bottom of a pool but I knew I had to come up at some point so I swam to the surface.
Immediately I bursted out of the water, I heard Bradley frantically calling my name.
