As the residents of Aberddu woke on the first day of the new year, 1102 AC, they felt no different than they had any other morning except possibly a little more delicate thanks to the previous night’s revelry. As they hauled themselves from their beds and dragged themselves about their business, they were scarcely aware of the significance of the year ahead. Even the adventurers could not have predicted the enormity of what would come. Like rats in a maze they chased about, feverishly trying to escape from the turmoil they had found themselves in.
