Chapter 7
Jenny woke up the next day and found herself on her couch, she must have fallen asleep after watching the news and screaming profanities. She truly wonders what had she done to found herself in such situation. She loves her quietness, her simple way of life. But Bloomfield was destroying the little peace she had. What game was he playing? If he is bored, why does he needs to create a scandal and with her. She was a random pick she was sure of it, or did he know that she had been Peter assistant and that he was taking revenge on her because the deal didn’t go through. Impossible, her imagination was going too far.
She sights, but made no motion to get up from the sofa. She had to go out today to purchase paints and visit furniture stores. But her body didn’t feel like moving, much as she tries, she couldn’t stop replaying yesterday events. The hand she had punch him with, still throb. She didn’t know why, there was something about Bloomfield that made her on edges and ready to pounce like a tiger. Gosh, she never knew she could act this violently toward someone. All throughout her life, man stayed away from her, she always thought it was because she was not beautiful that none has ever taken the liberty to approach her. She had resigned herself to spending the rest of her life alone, she was shy when it came to the opposite s*x thus the reason, she never really made an effort to initiate.
Out of the blue, here comes Bloomfield with his cocky self, thinking he could do whatever he wishes. A man like him, would never want her for who she is, this little game he is playing will come to an end sooner or later and if she falls for it, she will be the one left vulnerable. Hopefully, she won’t see him anymore, she just prayed that their path would not crossed anymore. At the final thought, she gets up and proceeded with her morning routine. Putting thought of Bloomfield far away.
After her morning routine, she left her apartment feeling optimistic, during the day she had visited many store but had yet to find exactly what she wanted, for most of the store surprisingly were out of stock. She found that weird but decided that she would probably place her command online. As she was walking out of the paint store, she failed to see the group of journalists that were awaiting her. The moment she steps out she was surrounded as she was bombarded with questions ‘Miss. Sully what is your relationship with Marc Bloomfield? Miss. Sully we heard that Mr. Bloomfield has pressed charges against you for assaults? Miss. Sully, Miss. Sully. Miss. Sully?
Her head swamps with it all and with one last attempt, she runs away and to her horror the journalists follows her. She manages to lose them by entering Mistro Café, but her shelter was futile for the moment she enters, there on the TV screen the events that happened at the Italian restaurant was playing and the cashier did a double take at her and said “You’re Jenny Sully, the woman that assaulted Marc Bloomfield” and with that the whole room turned toward her and Jenny found herself hightailing out of there like her butt was on fire.
It was only in the safety of her building that she found herself able to breathe. GOD, what the hell was going on, if she wasn’t popular with the first event, she was now, what was she going to do. As she seats inside thinking, she heard her door opened, alarms she quickly get up from the chair to see who had entered the premises. It was a white man dressed in a navy suit, he had a folder in his hand and a much to friendly smile.
“I am sorry to intrude” says the stranger “I am looking for Miss. Jenny Sully?”
“Who are you and why are you looking for her?”
“I was referred to her by the bank, she made a loan a couple of days ago and from her file, it is written that she plans on opening a restaurant. As it is our policy within the bank, whoever makes a loan of great importance, we offer our services so that they can succeed in their project”
“How do you plan to do so?” she asks skeptically
Smiling the man answers “By guiding Miss. Sully in her purchase of materials. We can direct her to the best deal, the best materials, the best designing team and much more”
This sounded too good, thought Jenny and suspicious “and what do you get in return for helping your client”
“We get nothing in return, the satisfaction of our client is what count, they are happy, we are happy”
“This is not a scam” as she says so, she looks around the man to see if there was any hidden camera”
“I assure you Ma’am, this is not, so, is Miss. Sully available, the sooner we start, the sooner she’ll have her dream restaurant”
Jenny took the time to look at the man, something didn’t totally sit right with her, but at the same time, thinking of the day’s failure, maybe just maybe with prudence she could see what this was about.
“I am Jenny Sully”
As she introduced herself the man smile widen “Nice to meet you Miss. Sully, my name is Andrew Colton and I am at your service. I have brought with me a portfolio, should we seat to have a look”
She led the man to a table at the far corner of the room, took the portfolio and started viewing, she was impressed with the drawing and the design that she lost herself. As she interacts with Andrew, another person was viewing her from a small camera that was attached on Andrew suit.
Marc had a satisfactory smile as he watches Jenny viewing the portfolio that he had prepare for her. He had his company contact every single store in the city as to warn them not to sell Jenny anything, for he wanted her to not have any other option but to accept Andrew help and his planned worked. She was completely at his mercy now.
“Heard the journalist gave Jenny a hard time today” says Julian who was sitting on the couch viewing a catalog
Sighting, he had also heard of that
“Do you plan on doing anything” ask Julian
“No, I don’t plan on doing anything for the moment”
“And may I know why?”
“If I were to intervene, then Jenny will not come on my doorstep. I want her to get irritated with the constant gossip and come to me to have it stop”
“You’re worse than the devil”
Laughing he replies “no more than you brother, no more than you”
