Chapter 3
Behind the office door, Marc had a clear view of Jenny, he saw her worry expression and he could tell she was anxious. It was no doubt by now; she had found out his identity and was regretting her action. May as well put her out of her misery, she had enough time to reflect and he was expecting an apology.
“I’ll like to talk to her alone,” he says to James
“Are you sure about that?” asked Julian with a smirk
Paying his brother, no mind, he turns toward James “Well”
“I have to ask the same question that Julian just did, are you sure about that?”
“Have I ever made any decision that I wasn’t sure about”
“Yes, and that was two hours ago” responded Julian
Feeling a bit exasperated “James, just do your job, I have no intention of filing a complaint against her, all I need is an apology, my goodness”
James looks at Marc for a good while as if calculating something and as if he found the answer, he picks up the phone and dials a number and the person answered on the first ring “Have Miss. Sully place in the interrogation room” with that he hangs up, gets up and signal for Marc to follow him.
As they arrive in front of the interrogation room, James stops and turns toward Marc “If you need help don’t hesitate to scream, we’ll rush in to save you” he finishes with laughter and quickly walked away before Marc could react. Behind Marc, Julian was unable to hold on to his laughter.
“If you know what is good for you, you better stopped laughing,” says Marc, but Julian paid him no mind. Turning toward the door, Marc takes a deep breath and enters.
She was sitting on the other side of the table with her hand in front of her, her face had tiredness written all over. The moment her eyes landed on him, she averted him. He walks over to the table, pulls out the chair and sat down without saying a word.
When the door opened and Bloomfield walked in, Jenny's heartbeat accelerated. ‘Why was he here’ she thoughts, she felt so uncomfortable that she averted eye contact completely. She saw him pull out the chair and sat down; still, she didn’t look at him. The silence lingered for more than five minutes and Jenny was getting tired of it.
Marc took the time to truly watch the woman in front of him, even though her face marked tiredness, there was a certain beauty about her. The way she worked her mouth, had him wanting to kiss her again. What was wrong with him, shaking himself out of his dark thoughts, he was about to speak when she started.
“Look I am truly sorry for what happened to you earlier, I mean for what I did to you earlier. My reaction was brutal and…”
“I have to agree on that, your reaction was indeed brutal and I am sure there was no need to go that far”
Taking a deep breath Jenny responded “There was no need to go that far had you keep that mouth of yours to yourself”
“You act as if been kissed was the most disgusting thing that could happen, could that have been your first kiss,” says Marc
There was no way Jenny was going to reveal that the kiss was her first, but her non-response confirmed it and Marc didn’t know if he should shout or stay quiet and then he understood “So I stole your very first kiss?”
Again no response, “you should consider yourself very lucky to have been kissed by me, not everyone gets this opportunity”
At his word, Jenny felt her hair standing “Consider myself lucky? Listen Mr. Bloomfield get your head out of the gutter you’re in, for you are nothing for me to consider myself lucky to have been kissed by. You are just a tiny piece of meat in this big world; you think too highly of yourself when deep down you’re nothing but a clown, to consider myself lucky? Haha you make me laugh”
Marc was stunned by her words; she did not just insult him? Oh no, she did not, did she?
“Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?” he says with a threat looming in between
Jenny was furious so she missed the underline threat behind his word “Let me tell you something Mr. Bloomfield if you think for one second I am going to apologize for my earlier action, you can keep dreaming. On the contrary,” says Jenny as she stands and leans over the table “you owe me an apology for stealing my first kiss and trust me and hear me clearly, if I had to redo what I did, I will act out the same way. So don’t think your petty threat is going to scare me.” Here we go Jenny; you just brought hell into your life
Behind the window, James and Julian were watching and hearing the interaction and knew that hell had just broken loose.
Marc watches the woman towering over him as she says her words and the devil in him awakens, this woman had no idea what she has just done. Getting up from the chair, Marc leans over close enough to feel her breathing. She didn’t back down as he had hoped so, this was a woman, he wonders what would her reaction be if he kisses her again but before he could act out on his impulse, the door opens to reveal James.
“Your ten minutes are up, Miss. Sully, as Mr. Bloomfield has explained to you I hoped, no charges are going to be held against you. You are free to walk out of here and do not worry there will be no record of it as well”
Jenny pulls away from the table and walks toward James but was stopped when Marc called out her name “Jenny, this is not over”
She half-turn toward him looks at him up and down, turns toward James, “if you value your citizens’ life, please put some senses into him” and with that, she walks out leaving a perplexed James.
“What has gotten into you” ask Julian to Marc
Marc watches her leave and with it, he could feel his heart crying out to stop her. Was that love, at first sight, he didn’t know, but this woman has just awakened a side of him that he hadn’t dare explored before. He turns toward Julian and answers “You’ve just met your future sister-in-law.
