~ Song ~ Hold On For Your Life - Sam Tinnesz ~  Third POV. They snickered in hushed whispers, their eyes shining with triumph. Knocking Faye out couldn't of been an easier task, the human fell unconscious with just a small knock on the head and now Nicholas had lost his 'Fairy'. They were bragging about their successful task, forgetting exactly whos home they were in.  Nicholas walked past at the right time for him, but the wrong time for them. He heard their voices and found it suspicious so decided to stop for a second.  "Fun is over. We don't want Nicholas finding out."  His lips curled up into a vicious smirk, his fangs growing with his anger. He stepped around the corner catching the two vampire maids and pinning them with his glowing eyes. They gasped as he appeared and froze in place. "Find out what exactly?" He asked venomously as he stalked towards his prey.  "Nothing Master." The woman on the left spoke in a shaky voice as she dropped her head submissively.   "Are you sure? It didn't sound like nothing to me."  The other girl dropped her head but he could sense an arrogant stubbornness from her. She wanted to disrespect him and they both had already.  "We apologise Master we were just talking."  "Talking? Hmm that's harmless isn't it?" He c****d an eyebrow, staring at the shaking girl. She would crack.  He stepped towards the one on the right and with one swift movement had her throat in his hand. She gasped for air, her wide eyes set on his.  "I'm fairly hungry you know. I've been too busy to eat these past few hours. Do you know why?" His eyes flicked to the shaking girl on the left as she watched him strangle her friend.  She shook her head. "You see, someone kidnapped my Fairy." His eyes returned to the struggling girl in his grip. "Though you already knew that."  He growled and slammed her back against the wall, biting into her neck roughly. She screamed out in pain and struggled in his hold but it was a futile attempt. Nicholas was far too strong and far too mad for anyone to stand a chance. Her cries died out as he sucked the blood from her body, her eyes rolling to the back of her head.  He hadn't drunk directly from a human in a while, his mother raised him to be more 'sophisticated' than that but he didn't quite follow the rules. He was a monster after all, it is what they all called him so why not give them a show. He drank her dry and pulled back.  "Nicholas!" He heard his mother gasp behind him.  He smirked as he licked his fangs, releasing his hand and letting the body fall to the floor with a loud thump. He dragged his eyes over to the frightened girl as he smirked at her.  "Lock her up. I'll deal with her soon."  Camille looked at her son with shock covering her features as his eyes flashed with wicked delight. His eyes snapped to hers and she had to brace herself not to stumble backwards. She didn't take pride in seeing that side of her son, seeing how he thrived on being a sinister killer.  Nicholas threw away the ability to care about what others thought many years ago. He was destructive to not only himself but to anyone who might be on his war path, with no regard for consequences as they never reached him. Flourishing on evil acts and murder, he was practically untouchable to those surrounding him.  He walked out of the room nonchalantly, using his black handkerchief to wipe the blood from his lips as he grinned.  Nicholas went to the nearest villages until the sun began to descend. He found no clues, no trace of Faye anywhere. She was gone, just like that. Reminding Nicholas how easy it was to lose someone. Sleep wasn't something that welcomed Nicholas that night, he had Phantom being a pest and the silence was suffocating, use to hearing her soft breathing as she slept.  The next few mornings he skipped breakfast, working tirelessly to find a lead on Fayes whereabouts. Nicholas headed straight down to the cells to pay his maid 'friend' a little visit. She was still frightened from the incident the other day, watching your friend be sucked dry will do that to you. Nicholas stared down at her weak body, her head was dropped and if it wasn't for the slight shaking of her body, he would've thought her dead.  "Wake up sunshine." He smirked. "I've got a Fairy to find."   She sucked in a breath at Nicholas's voice and slowly raised her head, her eyes finding his bright red ones. When he opened the cell door she gasped and pushed herself against the back wall in an attempt to get as far away from Nicholas as she could.  His smirked deepend as he watched the terror flash through her widened eyes.  "Who were you working with?" Nicholas asked, halting his movements as he stood in the middle of the cell.  She shook her head, her mouth clamped shut refusing to give up her accomplices names. Despite this, his smirk didn't falter and that only made her fear rise. She wanted to look away but she couldn't, as if she was compelled to stare into his eyes.  "Charles?"  She gasped, Nicholas saying the name she was just thinking. How did he know?  "Who is he?" Nicholas said, his tone getting harsher. "Tell me now while I still have patience."  She was unable to find the words, the power resonating off Nicholas too suffocating to allow her control over her body. All she could do was shake in the corner while the menacing vampire stood above her. One could almost hear the last of Nicholas's patience breaking away.  A feral growl ripped out through the cell, Nicholas lunging forward and grabbing the girl by her throat in the blink of an eye. She gasped out, tears brimming her dull eyes at the force of the hand around her throat.  "Tell me." He growled darkly.  "I don't know." She gasped out. "I swear."  His eyes narrowed until he frowned, dropping her to the floor. She was telling the truth. He growled out, punching the concrete wall. The room shook at the force of his punch, a decent crack now decorating the wall. Blood stained his dislocated knuckles, a horrible popping sound filling their ears as he forced his knuckles back in place.  "You'll be joining your friend soon." Nicholas said codly, giving the girl one last glance before he walked out.  He stormed out of the house and headed straight for his carriage.  "Take me to the council cells." He barked to the coachman.  With the fear of his master punishing him, the coachman got them to the council cells faster than ever. He could sense Nicholas was in no mood to be mucked around, not that he ever was but regardless everyone knew how grave the situation really was.  Not a single soul stood in Nicholas's way as he traversed through the prison, despite not knowing his reason for being there. The witch smiled to himself as he heard hasty footsteps approaching, he was finding it quite boring in solitary, though that was the point. He had been waiting for someone to spice up his day and his grin only widened when he saw the wrathful face of Nicholas.  "Ah Nicholas. How good it is to see you." He smirked.  Nicholas grunted and came to a stop in front of the cell door, his cold eyes locked with the humour filled ones belonging to the crafty witch.  "You do not look too pleased." His words were smooth and venomous, making Nicholas's eyes narrow.  "Faye was taken."  His eyebrows raised, surprise flashing through his eyes before quickly being devoured by his mask. He studied Nicholas, giving him a lopsided grin.  "And you think I have something to do with it? Come on Nicholas, sure I am talented but I am in solitary. There isn't much I can do from here." He raised his hands up.  Nicholas's knew his magic was contained here, at least in physical form but as he learned the other day he could still use it in his mind. Magic was a tricky thing, possessed by a strong user and it could be limitless. Fortunately the world hadn't had many witches that could master magic completely but it seemed more were coming out of the shadows.  "You can do plenty." Nicholas snarled. "If I am not mistaken, it was just the other night that you took Faye to your 'personal realm' and harmed her."  "She told you?" He asked, clearly surprised and amused.  "She did." Nicholas said, a bitter taste in his mouth. "After I found her wound."  "Did she tell you what we spoke of?" He asked, his eyebrow c****d.  "She told me you mentioned the prophecy."  "Anything else?" Nicholas shook his head to which the witch chuckled. "I see. Smart girl."  "What else did you say?" He snarled, grabbing onto the bars of the door.  "That is between me and the girl. Perhaps she will tell you if you ever find her, alive that is."  Taunting Nicholas was far too much fun for the witch, his eyes gleamed evilly as he smiled with mirth.  "What have you done to her Kane?"  "Oh you know my name, finally. Like I said before, I can't do anything while here, I didn't kidnap your precious pet."  "Then perhaps you know who did." Nicholas said. "A witch, Charles."  Kane thought on it for a second, he had never met a witch named Charles. He smirked slyly.  "Charles isn't a witch." He snickered. "He's a vampire. One of you."  Nicholas's eyes widened ever so slightly, just enough for Kane to be filled with amusement at his reaction. Nicholas was so hell bent on the perpetrator being a witch he hadn't even thought of the possibility of it being a vampire. His past was clouding his mind once again, controlling his decisions and taking away his rationality and it was causing him to lose time.  "I wonder what's worse. Faye being kidnapped by my kind or your kind." Kanes lips curled up into a astute smile as his eyes drilled into Nicholas's.  "Where would he keep Faye?"  Kane shrugged. "I have only met him a handful of times, he is a bit of an acquired taste, not to my liking."  "Where!?" Nicholas snapped, slamming his fist against the door. Kanes eyebrows rose. "I have no idea but I had heard his hunting grounds were the pine forests north of us."  Nicholas took the information and turned on his heel, ready to charge out the door to find Faye but Kane's voice stopped him.  "She won't die that easily Nicholas." He said, his voice void of the humour it was once laced with. "She plays an important role in all our futures."  "What do you mean?" Nicholas asked as he turned his head.  "I think you already know what I mean. Orphea is special, you know that too."  His eyes narrowed on Kanes. "How do you know her name?"  "I know many things. We witches do."  Nicholas scowled at him, he didn't have time to listen to Kane any longer. He had the information he needed to get Faye back, so that was exactly what he was going to do. He'd be back for the answers Kane was dangling over his head and when that happened, he wouldn't leave without them.  Kane smirked at Nicholas's retreating form, there was an urgency in the way he moved, even a desperation and it made him chuckle. How a girl could have such an effect on not only Nicholas but the entire world was beyond him.  It didn't take long for Nicholas to reach the northern forest, Clara arrived soon after. They ran through the forest, the snow almost reaching their knees making it harder to traverse. The wind was howling, pushing against his back as if it was leading him forward.  Unease was rising in them both as the scenery remained the same no matter how far they ran, the trees were endless, the snow attempting to drown them. A sweet smell reached him despite the winds attempt at pushing it away, it was a smell he knew, one that made his primal instincts go mad.  "Faye!" He yelled out, she was out there somewhere.  Clara glanced at her cousin, she couldn't hear nor see anything that would tell her Faye was around but despite that she yelled out too, listening to their voices being silenced by the wind.  Nicholas's eyes widened as he saw a figure stumble forward in the distance, her head tilted up as she stared at the falling snow. He yelled out again, seeing the blood trickling down her legs and pooling around her feet as he got closer.  She looked so weak, so cold and helpless. She was about to give up.  "Faye!"  Her head dropped down, her eyes struggling to scan her surroundings until they locked on the two vampires moving through the trees. His eyes connected with hers, a rush of adrenaline and relief coursing through him. He watched as her eyes closed, her body finally giving up as she fell backwards onto the snow.  Nicholas heard Clara gasp, he pushed himself forward and reached Fayes body. The snow around her was stained with the richest red he had ever laid his eyes upon, a haunting sight that would stay in his mind forever. The puddle of blood was quickly spreading as it oozed out of the wound on her abdomen.  He stilled as he stood above her, she looked so different than she did only days ago, he was stunned.  "Nic!" Clara's voice snapped him out of it.  He reached down and carefully scooped Faye up in his arms. She was cold to the touch and he wondered just how far she had walked in the snow bleeding to death. He looked in the direction she came, a trail of blood left behind in the snow going as far as he could see.  "Lets go." Nicholas said, glancing at Clara before turning and heading back to the carriage.  He kept Faye in his arms on the way home, his body slowly transferring heat to hers. He stared at her pale face and dark under eyes, if death had a human form he was certain it would be similar to how Faye looked. The slow thumping of her heart didn't ease his nerves, it was feeble and he wasn't sure how long it would last.  His mind was reeling, the feeling of failing once again settling in to make home within him. However the words Kane said echoed in his mind, Faye was strong he knew that but he could tell she wanted to give in.  He wasted no time when the carriage stopped, holding her shaking form tight against his chest as he darted inside, Clara right behind them. He swiftly skipped a few steps at a time, rushing to get Faye to his bedroom. A few vampire maids had come out to see what was going on, no doubt smelling the sweet scent of her blood. One swift glare from Nicholas was enough to promptly end their pesky stares.   "She needs a bath Nic." Clara said, her worried eyes on the frail human in his arms. "I know." Came his gruff reply as they entered his bedroom. "I will do it." Nicholas placed Faye on his bed, throwing a blanket over her. He turned towards his cousin and shook his head. "I will." "Nic she's a lady, you can't!" Clara said in an exasperated voice.  "I can." He pushed past her into the bathroom and started running a warm bath. "Nic!" Clara tried to grab him but he shoved past her. "Let me."  "She's mine! Out Clara, now!" He growled at her, his eyes were glowing brighter than ever and the anger was rolling off him in suffocating waves.  "Nic you need to think about th-" "Out!" Clara stared at her cousin with wide and worried eyes. She knew she couldn't win against Nicholas so with a sigh she turned her gaze towards Faye before walking out of the bedroom.  Nicholas lit the fire, watching the flames grow higher than ever before. Before Faye came, he hadn't lit the fire in years but now he was always finding himself lighting it for her. She was a weak human and needed the warmth, now more than ever.  A small cough made Nicholas turn so sharply he almost lost balance. Faye's small body shook as she coughed and he was quick to be by her side as her eyes slowly opened. Her tired blue eyes locked with his and she exhaled softly as if she was filled with relief at the sight of him.  "Nicholas."
