Chapter Four: An Agreement.

The air in the room felt thin as everyone stared at Fred, who had his eyes closed, his head kissing the ground. Dylan moved his hand, the gun spinning around his fingers before he placed it on the desk. He stood before Fred, raised his leg, and kicked him with intense force. Fred spun a couple of times before hitting his back on the wall next to him. “You’re quite the lucky man.” He held up a smile as he stared down at him, dreadlocks covering his face except for his lingering smirk. “You have three minutes to get out of my face before I end your miserable life,” Dylan said as he returned to his chair behind the desk. “Thank you for sparing my life, Young Master,” Fred said as he rose to his feet, his hand clutching his lower abdomen that had taken the hit. He stole a glance at me before rushing out of the mansion. He didn't dare to look back, his footsteps vanishing in almost an instant. “I am sorry you were met with such an unwelcoming sight. This wasn't what I planned and I will make sure he is punished accordingly.” Dylan said with a smile on his face. “So Young Master…” “Dylan— call me Dylan since we are married.” he said in a low tone. “About the marriage, I have accepted your offer.” “I had a feeling.” He chuckled. “So what exactly is all this about and why me? I want an explanation before I continue whatever you have planned.” I said despite my trembling legs. He snapped his finger, pointing to the door. I was confused at first but soon the guards had all left the room and we were alone. “The truth wouldn't make a difference.” He let out a smile. “That is not for you to decide.” I snapped. “If you say so.” He adjusted into the chair, submerging his body till he was comfy. “As you know, I am the CEO of Velar Corporations. The leading corporation in the country and all that. However, my power has been limited since I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder by my family's doctor.” He explained. “I earned my position fair and square but now I might lose it to my younger brother who now has the backing of my father's relatives and they're trying to change his will or kill me.” “And when do I come in?” The urge to skip the details suddenly popped up and I took it. This wasn't the first time I was dealing with greedy bosses who wanted more power and had some sort of disease so this just seemed like a normal conversation that I could avoid. “I have to prove to my family and the world that I am sane and I own the company fair and square. My brother already has his estates and buildings but he has his eyes on the company, and would try to get it. You are my game plan.” He held up a grin. “What do you mean I am your game plan?” My eyebrows were raised, legs tapping on the tiles. “A sane man can handle responsibilities and his wife can vouch for him anywhere. A responsible and kind lady can win the hearts of anyone including myself and also uncover hidden truths.” He now had a stern look on his face, a sinister aura surrounding the atmosphere. “I need you to be not only my wife but my bodyguard and help me uncover hidden secrets that can help me keep my position as the owner of the corporation.” “And if I refuse?” He laughed like a maniac, his hand slowly moving to his face till it covered half his face. “I know you wouldn't want to find out.” I felt chills run down my spine as he stared into the depths of my soul. I was intimidated, every vein in my body screaming for me to accept his proposal no matter what he said. He could kill me in the blink of an eye, torture me with Russian roulette, or lock me up till I accepted. There was no winning with someone like him. “I already bought the building you rented and demolished it to build something new. You don't need to go back there since you'll be living with me from now on.” “What do you mean?” I slammed my hands on the table. He didn't say anything, his left eyebrow raised. “You don't want to stay here?” He inquired with a puzzled tone. “I do…” he cut me off. “That settles it.” I scoffed as he snapped his fingers and the door rumbled behind us. Two ladies in black and white uniforms walked in, hurrying towards us. “Take the young mistress to her room and prepare a medicinal bath that the doctor had suggested.” He waved his hand and the two ladies approached me, giving me a bow before suggesting we leave. I stared at Dylan who now had a grin on his face. Despite the fear he planted in me, I still had a strong urge to wipe that smug look off his face and I would do that even if it drives me crazy. The two ladies led me out of the room and through a passage that led to a set of stairs at the end of the mansion. We climbed the stairs and arrived at another passage that had cream colored walls with golden interiors. We stopped before a room that had a golden door and a sleek black sensor above it. “Ma’am, you have to stand here or speak.” One of the ladies said. I laughed inside as the thought of my voice or facials opening a door filled my brain. There was no way something like that could be prepared in days. “Open.” I chuckled inwardly as the door stood there unyielding. How could I have been tricked so easily? The door suddenly rumbled, moving inwards before moving in opposite directions. The sight before me made my eyes widen as I stared at the large room with beautiful aesthetics. Compared to other rooms, it was painted differently. It had a combination of sky blue, white, and blush pink which all happened to be my favorite colors. The bed sheet was designed with blush pink roses and air conditioners cooled the room at 16 degrees. The two ladies led me to a silver door, opening it to reveal a spacious room enough to be named a two-room apartment. It housed a big bathtub, mirrors, and a shower. The ladies opened up a big wardrobe at the edge of the bathroom, revealing stocks of skin care, soaps, and medicinal herbs for skin protection and growth. “It is time for your bath, young mistress.” “Oh, you can leave. I will handle myself.” The ladies stole glances at each other before traces of melancholy appeared on their faces. “The Young master told us that you might be stubborn, but we didn't expect to use this card at such an early stage.” “What are you doing? Don't come near me!”
