He took a step into the room, lasers emerging from all angles as they stopped his movement. He moved his hand, tossing the assassin's hand through the blazing lights.
Blood splattered onto a tile that had a dragon symbol, and the lasers were withdrawn.
Now, the assassin was losing a hand, and he still didn't seem to have regained consciousness.
The room began to rumble once more, the wall before us moving inside as it flipped sideways to reveal three utterly battered men with blood trickling down their hands.
They grunted with every movement, spikes emerging from their hands like they were about to be crucified.
“Master… I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything.”
Screams emerged as they sighted his sinister figure.
Their voices were no more than low grunts, their last ounces of strength in a plea for a second chance. He didn't listen, acting like they're nothing more than the whispers of the pine tree, moving with the wind.
“Single man torture chamber, level 3," Dylan ordered as he waved his free hand in the air.
"Single-man torture chamber initiated.” The wall began to rumble once more, and the walls flipped several times till it got to one filled with red lights.
Dylan grabbed the man, pulling him towards the wall with not an ounce of emotion on his face. He locked the man onto the wall with golden chains that were widely spread and had dragon emblems on them.
Once the man was locked onto the wall and was unable to move, he moved to the side of the wall that housed buckets of liquids. Each one had a temperature limit, and I could tell that some of them shouldn't be used on a normal human.
He grabbed a bucket of cold water and tossed it onto the assassin's face. The man grunted as he regained his consciousness, words faltering from his mouth.
“I will ask you two questions that will determine your freedom.”
“Hehehe, you think this will make me talk?” he chuckled amidst the metallic blood that clung to his mouth.
“Who sent you here?”
“I don't know.” He let out a teasing smile like he was mocking Dylan.
Wrong move, though.
Dylan moved to the space next to the man, grabbing a steel rod that looked like a spatula with a dragon-design handle.
He walked to the other end of the room where a furnace resided. Stick the spatula into the deepest part of the flame for a few minutes before drawing the orange glowing spatula out of the furnace.
“You have 3 seconds to determine your freedom.”
“You wouldn't do that….. Argghhhhhh!”
The sound of excruciating pain filled the room as Dylan placed the glowing spatula on his bare shoulder. He didn't stop despite the endless struggle, and when he did, the assassin was dripping with cold sweat.
“You sure are stubborn," Dylan chuckled.
Deep within I had begun to pity the assassin who held his own against the flames burning his body. He might have been in the wrong, but before this maniac who seemed to be enjoying the wails of torment, it didn't look like he was being tortured for information.
When I looked up once more, Dylan had swapped the spatula with a black and red whip that would probably cost a lot during the slave trade era as a high-quality tool.
He lashed out… once, twice, thrice, not stopping until the man began to splutter some words that seemed like gibberish.
“I was sent!” He yelled. “I just received a message from the higher-ups to eliminate a lady named Zendaya; I don't know who ordered the attack.”
“Did you place your filthy hands on her?” Dylan's eyebrows were furrowed, his eyes growing darker as the deep baritone of his voice seeped out.
“I had no other option; they would kill me if I came back without succeeding.”
“So you touched her.” He slammed his fist on the assassin's chest, watching him cough out blood as his insides churned to the force.
“Stop!” I screamed as the scene before me became unbearable to watch.
He didn't listen to me, pulling out a revolver from inside the bucket that once housed cold water. The revolver had a golden glow and was combined with a silencer.
“I answered every question; I should be free!” The assassin screamed into his voice.
“Touching her is equivalent to death; remember that next time.”
"Arggghhhhhhh...!"
The silence crawled in faster than dawn, and the tension in the room vanished with the soul of a murderer. However, two wrongs don't make a right, and the main monster still stood with his back facing me and a golden revolver in his hand.
“Do you still think you can leave this mansion?”
His voice was stern, like a warning that was meant to pin me down to my bed. It worked, and I could feel my legs trembling in fright.
This wasn't about questioning the assassin; it was about showing me that he could find me and Dow whatever he wanted to me in this enclosed space that no one could access. This was him showing me a glimpse of his power and letting me make a decision.
He veered around, showing me his face that was smeared with blood. His sinister aura had tripled, and the courage I once felt vanished before his cold revolver.
“Come on, my beloved, we have to sleep and prepare for tomorrow's meeting with the council.” His lips curled into a devilish smile, one that instigated mischief.
“You might as well kill me here if you believe I am going to be under your command.” I blurted out after pushing back my inner fear.
“Don’t be in a rush to die, darling. We still have a lot of time in our hands.”
We returned to his chambers silently. My courage that had once blazed had been quenched with his cold words, and I could only blame my luck for ever encountering a monster such as himself.
He had decided to take a shower first since he reeked of dirt, sweat and blood. I didn't hold him back; I couldn't with that deadly look that would hunt me in my dreams for days.
Thirty minutes of non-stop scrubbing and showering, he walked out of the bathroom without a towel wrapped around his waist.
“What the hell are you doing!” I covered my eyes almost immediately as he walked towards me.
“Don't be shy, darling.” He chuckled. “Aren't we married?”
